I got two WindowsMe machines that i want to network staright fomr NC to NC (no Internet sharing)

what kind of cable do i have to use and how do i do it?

You need what's called a "crossover cable" and you can find them in most stores such as CompUSA, best buy, etc. Or you can make your own if you have the tools.

As far as how to network, check out practically networked , they have lots of guides

if you want the computers to talk to each other and see each other, certain wires need to be crossed. a switch or a hub basically acts as that "crossover" device, but if you are using a straight NIC TO NIC connection, then you NEED a crossover cable
