Ok, so I didn't think I was a newbie. I've dabbled in all sorts of computer stuff: built them, installed windows & Linux, a little programming, databases, whatever. I don't consider myself an idiot. I'm not a grandpa when it comes to computers. And it is 2015.

try disabling the firewall and disabling IPV6 on the pc's. It will make life much easier as far as sharing goes!

As long as they are all on the same subnet and not on isolated wifi segments they should discover their neighbors. Assuming firewall is open on all the pc's.

I was a bit frustrated, and used some bad language in my original post, which a moderator removed. Uh... without the bad language my post was a pretty small.

Anyway, I finally got things to work last night. I fiddled with settings, but I believe the main key was to reboot the machines. After rebooting each PC twice, they found each other and began sharing nicely.
