I would be interested to hear what the best/fastest set-up is for home networking. I started a while back (not knowing anything) with enabling all the standard Microsoft protocols (NETBUI, TCP/IP, and IPX), and setting NETBUI as the default since it seemed to give the fastest transfer rate for sharing files. I'm using a cheap Linksys 10/100TX hub.
I use the network to play games and share files mainly. The only annoying thing is that I get disconnected from my dial-up internet (no broadband here yet) when printing to the networked printer (HP 932C). I wonder that it might be caused by either my network settings/shares, or some other program like Zonealarm (or something).
