Home Networking Sharing Problem

I have a desktop connected with a wired connection and a laptop connected with a wireless connection. I have an external drive and printer on the desktop i want to share with the wireless laptop. WinXP home on the desktop and WinXP Pro on the laptop. I have gone through the Home Network setup wizard and made both in the same workgroup. I have allowed sharing on the external drive and the printer. I have removed the software firewall from the dekstop. When I go to view workgroup computers on my desktop.. I see both desktop and laptop... when I go to view workgroup computers on my laptop.. I only see the laptop. Anyone know why the desktop isn't visible to the laptop? does it have to do with the wireless network vs wired?

Post the IP and Subnet of both the desktop and the laptop.
(Or just verify that the IP and Subnet are correct).

As well as TG2's suggestions below.

Using the network neighborhood doesnt always work like it should.
Best, easiest, most reliable way is to go to Start>Run and type in \\OtherPCIPAddress and push enter to get a list of available shared resources (printers/folders)

Is the same username and password on each machine?

ok. desktop is 192.168.1.2 subnet 255.255.255.0
wireless is 192.168.1.3 subnet is 255.255.255.0

from DOS I can ping one from the other... no problems
wireless to desktop and desktop to wireless
The do NOT have the same login password

If I go Start>Run \\192.168.1.2 from my wireless laptop I get:
The Network Path Was Not Found.

You either have to enable the guest account (bad) or have the same username and password on each machine.

sorry (hadnt had my 2nd coffeee yet) it should be \\OtherPCIPAddress\SharedFolderName
