Okay, heres my setup... I'm running XP pro and have a cable modem connected to a 802.11g wireless router, and the router connected via cat5 to my desktop and a wireless signal to my laptop.
Internet works on both computers. I set up using the home networking wizard, although I really didn't know what I was doing or what options to pick. The workgroup is the same and the windows firewall is turned off on both computers.
When I try to 'view workgroup computers' on the desktop, I see both computers, but when I click on the laptop icon, is says "\\laptop is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the system administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. The network path was not found."
When I try to 'view workgroup computers' on the laptop, it says "\\Mshome is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the system administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. The list of servers for this workgroup is not currently available."
The funniest part is that when I tried it last night, the exact opposite happened... the laptop could see both computers while the desktop gave me the error. I messed with a few things this morning, restarted, and BAM... they switched places, so I know it's not administrator or permission issues.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions. I am a noob with networking.
Nick.
