Home networking problem

My current home network consists of a main server computer with 2 NIC's. One of them is directly connected to the cable modem. The other one is connected to a 4 port 10/100 hub that 2 other computers connect to as well in order to gain access to the internet. The reason I have it this way is because my ISP only allows the MAC address of that one NIC in my server to connect to the cable modem. Now I'm trying to add a 3rd computer to the network wirelessly, so I bought a D-Link DWL-G730AP access point/router, plugged that into the switch and set it to 'access point' mode, then attempted to set it up to work with my 3rd computer with a wireless adapter, but there isn't any connectivity. The weird thing is, in 'router mode', the G730AP would have no problem establishing a connection with my other computer. The signal is strong but it wouldn't connect to the internet in that mode. I thought that having it in 'access mode' would work but I have no idea why in that mode there's no signal going to or coming from the access point at all. I was just wondering if any of you use this access point/router and have experience with it? Thanks!

Thanks for the quick reply.
Unfortunately, the AP I have only has 1 RJ-45 port as it's meant to be primarily a compact traveling kit.
