Home network setup

beep all,

I just recently purchased new laptop and wanted to enable file sharing between it and my pc. I have my desktop wired to my router (D-Link router), and my laptop is using the wireless option. I ran the network setup wizard on both of the computers and chose the same workgroup name each time. On my laptop, I am able to only view the laptop computer when I click on view workgroup computers. When I try and view the workgroup computers on my desktop, I receive an error saying "workgroup not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource....." I tried to ping the desktop computer by name on the laptop and the request timed out, and vice versa. Now, my desktop computer was set up with a different home network when I lived at home, is there anything I need to do to disable that network so it can view my new lap top? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
