Home network problem with Sygate

I have two computers sharing an internet connection (cable modem) thru Sygate. They are connected with a crossover cable. The problem is that often times, the client computer will totally freeze up when im either in AIM or Internet Explorer. If anyone has any ideas on how to fix this please let me know.

What operating system(s) are you running? If you have Win98 or WinME, then just use the built in Internet Connection Sharing and save yourself the headaches associated with pretty much any low-end proxy program...

Your client computer freeze up when you are using AIM on it? Or when you are using AIM on your server PC? If it's the first case, it shouldn't be sygate's problem, since you dont even need to install sygate on the client PC...

Ok. I'm using Windows ME on both machines. Originally I tried to use the ICS without success. In regard to the 2nd reply, the client computer freezes up when it is running either MIE or AIM on the client.
