Home Network Lag

I have a computer with windows 7 installed with a wmp600n wifi adapter installed with latest driver. Before it had vista x64 installed with latest driver.

I have quicken and quickbooks on there and they have their files on 2 seperate remote nas. With vista installed there was no noticable lag now with 7 installed there is.

I have it going through a WAP4400n on channel 1. I tried to recreate the problem on one of the wired computers but it did not happen. Only thing I can think of is a setting that 7 changed that vista had that was working. I even turned off RDC on the 7 computer with no luck.

I tested the drives on the nas to make sure they were working properly and they are.

I also checked the available offline button to see if having a copy on the computer would help but no same performance.

I also have a strictly wifi-g ap on channel 11 so the only other option would be 6 but I haven't had problems with other computers just this one but also no other computers connect using wireless to these files all are hardwired.

What can I do that I've missed?

I also checked the available offline button to see if having a copy on the computer would help but no same performance.

If performance is the same with the files stored on the local computer, then this is not a networking issue. It's more likely that the (old?) version(s) of Quickbooks and Quicken that you are using do not function properly in Windows 7. Have you tried running them in XP Mode to see if you get the same results?

With an actual copy on the computer they run fine. I meant with an offline copy they run the same as in the check box that says make available offline.

The driver does not provide an option for changing flow control and turn off ipv6 through the windows 7 window that contains qos and tcpip options?

I did notice a slight improvment using the windows 7 built in drive as apposed to the latest ralink one. The current driver is one obtained from windows update and is a 2009 ralink driver

Someone else complained about lag using Windows 7. Stated that the following was causing his issue...

<snip>Homegroup network and/or "network discovery" & "file and print sharing" is turned on in the windows network sharing settings<endsnip>
.

I turned off those settings and still got the same lag. I don't know what else is different between vista and 7 that would cause that.
