Home network help

I am trying to set up a home network ( 2 computers ) just to share a DSL connection. I bought a USRobotics 8003 router and a cat6 network cable to do the job. I can't get the router to connect with the internet. When I go from my PC direct to the modem it works fine. And when I go through the router to their set up site it works fine. But I can't get on the internet. I have tried to ping servers in a doss window and it says all packets are being lost, or that it can't find the server. On USRobotics set up site on the status window it says the gateway is unreachable, and it shows no connection. Any clues?

Make Sure the DSL is connected. Then plug the other computers into the router, and then try to connect. If it does not work try

changing the ip addresses manually. If you can programme the Router try fooling around with it. MAke sure you read the manual.
