OK I have posted this problem in Tech support with no takers, maybe some of you in here have a solution for me, I am at a total loss on this one, Here it is:
I?m running XP Pro on an ECS K7S5A and XP 1500 I have a small LAN and I access an NT server basically just as a file server.
Now my problem is when trying to move files from the XP client machine to my NT server, what it does is the copying dialogue box will show the files copying but they will not ever actually get finished copying, it will just stay up there like it is copying the files but never completes. What is strange is that it will copy the (empty) folder but not files.
What I have done already:
Diabled and uninstalled the onboard SIS NIC and replaced it with a Netgear PCI NIC.
Uinstalled all network protocols and reinstalled but that didn?t work either.
Also since this problem started I have even reinstalled the OS on both the client and server (for another problem we won't go into).
Changed the network patch cable.
I have another WIN98 machine on this network and it moves files fine to and from this server.
There is no firewall turned on.
I eliminated the hub and made a crossover cable and connected the client machine to the server directly and it didn't change anything, I still can download to the XP box just not upload to the NT box.
Another thing I tried was to make a folder on the XP box shared and and then logged on the NT box and pulled from that share and copied files to it. So this tells me that traffic will go to the NT box from the XP just not when I initiate it from the XP machine. What gives? This is making me crazy.
