I live in California. So I guess I would open the door and say "take whatever you want I will not harm you" since defending my home or property here would most likely get me arrested and questioned for murder charges.

2. crank up the stereo to ridiculous levels
3. if I intend to hold my ground I'll grab one of my [extra] speakers and try to ram them down the stairs with it

Upstairs, stat. Call my local PD's dispatch directly and use my AR15 as needed. Depending on how long it takes them to get inside/upstairs, I may end up with the Glock 36 instead. Either way, someone coming upstairs with a gun at 2am can bet on getting shot.

That would not do them any good. I have several magazines that are loaded with armor piecing rounds for my FN-FAL. At 20 or so feet from the upstairs landing to the front door they would be disoriented as to where the fire was coming from and grouped in a doorway they would be toast considering .308 at that distance would be nasty even if it wasn't AP. I am really glad I actually noticed the rounds that were in those belts of .308 I bought about 25 years ago. I thought they were just home assembled belts. Turned out to be military belts complete with tracers and AP rounds. The paint was so worn they were hard to identify with a quick glance.

My wife and I live in a one bedroom apartment with a backdoor in our bedroom. I would run into the bedroom, grab the wife, and bolt out the back door, hop the hollow tile wall into the next apartment complex and keep running for the Police Station a couple of blocks away.

Sleep naked, so this would all be in the nude for me...

I think I'd just go to the door and ask them what they're doing. I mean, they may be playing some kind of game. If they were serious about wanting to harm me, I'd ask them what in their childhood made them so angry and don't they know that all they really need is a hug.

I'd offer them all hugs, yes, that's what I'd do. That and a very sincere handshake. I'd let them know I feel their pain and that I was sorry that society had let them down and that they had so much anger. I'd let them know that I was doing everything in my power to make the world a better place for them.

Being mean all the time is bad. There are no really bad people in this world just a lot of misunderstanding. I'd make sure they knew that.

I think they'd leave feeling much better.

1) Possibly call police.
2) Break glass on "Zombie Survival Kit". No Zombies, no problem.
3) Load shotgun. Hand axe and pistol over to family members.
4) Stand my ground. My house is my castle.
