Home invaders repelled by elderly homeowner

“Somebody knocked at the door,” he said this afternoon. “When my son went to the latch, they shot through the storm door and got him.”

The shots killed Doyal’s son, Robert Sanders Doyal, 32, and fiancee, Judy Adams, 63, who was sitting in a recliner.

Doyal said he shot back and killed one of the men. He said the other got away wounded and later turned up at a Blount County hospital.

Basically, two thugs opened fire as soon as his son answered the door. Sadly, the invaders killed his fiancée and son before he managed to kill one invader and wound the other. Thankfully, the wounded one was found quickly. Shame he was not able to respond quickly enough before the thugs killed his family, but at least he stopped one and injured the other allowing him to be captured.

Such a sad story🙁

God, what a fragmented Newspaper story full of unanswered question.

1. The first part of somewhat straight forward, armed intruded knocked on the Doyle door at 12:00 PM , the Doyle son, age 32, Robert Doyle went to the door, and was shot through the storm door and presumably killed instantly.

Then next step, the armed intruders presumably entered the house and killed the fiancee, a 63 year woman. Whose fiancee was she, logically it had to be the daddy Larry Boyle, and if Adams was killed instantly also, how did the Larry Doyle upstairs
know exactly what was happening downstairs? Then Larry went downstairs gun in hand, saw a guy with a shot gun, was quicker on the draw and shot Mr. Shotgun and probalby killed him instantly, and the ole Larry at least shot and wounded one other accomplish. Then the perps fled implying there may be a third unwounded perp.

Meanwhile a neighbor called the cops after hearing gunshots at 12PM, the Cops did not respond until 1 PM, an hour later. Meanwhile we are all left with the question of why Larry Boyle did not call the cops immediately after the assault?

Something does not logically add up here!

Give the paper a break. They are from Tennessee. That whole newfangled reading, writing and arithmetic thing is still new.

In case you are wondering, they don't always 100% fact check as they post breaking news.

I am always armed if somebody knocks. Good habit to get into.

Maybe if you lived in Iraq. Here in America though, I feel like I have more important things to worry about. As far as everyday dangers go, I doubt random home invasions that start by knocking make the top 100 list of things the average person should worry about. Sure, it sucked for this particular family...but how often does something like this really happen?

Better habit is just to go to a side-window and see who's knocking or, if you don't have a side window, have a cheap camera concealed (or unconcealed) somewhere around the door. Yeah the latter sounds paranoid, but it's a fun little tech project and if you hook it in to your TV or computer it can become quite convenient.

Ideally I'd have that talking robotic eye from Jabba's Palace door just so I could fuck with people. 🙂

The cowardly paranoid fear you cling to shit-stains your soul, even as it poisons and constricts your daily existence.

"A coward dies a thousand deaths, a hero only one.”
-- William Shakespeare

Spidey, you are a coward, and your psychotic cowardice is dangerous to all around you.

BOO!

Hahahahahahaha! Time for you to change your underwear again! :awe:

You're gay, aren't you?

:hmm:

Sad, still.

Knox, TN sounds like a dangerous place.

Perknose it isn't fear. It's being prepared. Having been through a home invasion myself I'm quite happy to be prepared.

Go through it yourself and you'll change your tune.

Knox, TN sounds like a dangerous place.

I have lived here for almost a year now. It is a massive improvement over any place that I have ever lived. For the most part, West Knoxville is filled with the friendliest people you will ever meet and all of the public places are very clean and life is wonderful.

Venture into East Knoxville, portions of South Knoxville and Fort Sanders (when the sun goes down) and you forfeit your life.

An example of what might happen to you in East Knoxville:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murders_of_Channon_Christian_and_Christopher_Newsom

When police went to the address on Tuesday, January 9, they found the home unoccupied and Christian's body in a trash can in the kitchen.

Newsom was repeatedly sodomized with an object and then blindfolded, gagged, arms and feet bound and his head covered. Barefoot, he was either led or dragged outside the house to a set of nearby railroad tracks. He was shot in the back of the head, the neck, and the back, and his body then set on fire.

Christian's death came only after hours of sexual torture, medical examiner Mileusnic-Polchan testified. Christian suffered horrific injuries to her vagina, anus and mouth. She was not only raped but savaged with "an object," possibly a broken chair leg, the doctor testified. She was beaten in the head. Some type of chemical was poured down her throat, and her body, including her bleeding and battered genital area, likely scrubbed with the same solution - all while Christian was alive, the forensic expert said. She was then "hog-tied," with curtains and strips of bedding, her face covered tightly with a small trash bag and her body stashed inside five large trash bags before being placed inside a large trash can and covered with sheets. Christian died slowly, suffocating, the medical examiner said

Often enough that I'd like to be able to own guns without people getting all bent out of shape. I understand if they dont wanna carry guns, or even look at them. But I dont want them to take my right from me. Especially when criminals obviously dont care about such laws anyway.

Please tell me where you bought that robotic eye!

Word. The gun goes on when the pants go on. It doesn't come off until they do. Every day. No exceptions. No fear in the process...just an automatic safety response, like looking over your shoulder before backing the car out.

Depends where you live i'd say. 8 mile Detroit. yeah I'd have an sort barreled AR on my back under trench coat at all times on single point swivel. Mayberry not so much.
