Not sure if this would be better in General Hardware, but...

Which would you think would be better? I'm looking at maybe setting up a home entertainment center (tv with surround sound) and am wondering which would sound and look better. Currently I have a tv to hook up with and I also have a computer with an internal dvd player. Would my computer with dvd player sound better hooked up with some z560s or would it be better to buy a standalone dvd player with surround speakers included. I would be looking at a approx. $150 surround system (Circuit City has one from $200 on sale for $170) because that is the price I would have to pay for the z560s.

Any ideas? What is your setup? I'm not looking for the whole movie theater experience since I know for the money I am spending I will not get it, but something that allows me to get into a movie quite well.

If your sound card has digital out you might want to check out the Yamaha system.
This is assuming you've alread got a video card with tv output though the video would probably look better on the pc monitor.

The Yamaha will also work with any standalone dvd player with digital outputs so buying a cheap standalone dvd player along with may be a better option if you're going to use the tv.

if you're talking about the ones i think you're talking about at CC forget it, read the reviews.....

just go with thez560's....standalone dvd players can be had for about 50 that have digital out(sound) and svid out for video, i've got the apex 1200 and it works great! good luck

You would need a receiver

What would a good/cheap receiver cost?

And would the z560s be powerful enough to engross you in a movie and loud enough for a fairly large room?
