Is it crazy to be paranoid about your home entertainment components being able to breathe? We have this nice stand we bought 2 years ago from Target that fits a 40" TV and then has a middle shelf to hold a DVD or a Reciever and there is a drawer for DVDs and then there is a cupboard on the left and right of the middle shelf. Everything is closed in the back with holes and the cupboards have doors.

I guess what Im saying is what stand is optimal for your components? Which one do you own?

I was thinking this one could be nice because it seems airy:

Did you leave out the link?

Mine has a lot of open space around the components (This was ~$40)

So your receiver is totally closed off now? How hot does it get after you push it for a while?

I'd be nervous putting my old receiver in an enclosed area knowing how hot it got in my current stand, but my new stuff barely gets warm after going very hard.

I've tried opening some enclosed display setups at various AV stores and some receivers I've touched have been very very hot after getting no air circulation.

My wife and I have this TV unit from IKEA (different color though). The back is closed, but there's plenty of breathing room if you adjust the shelves properly. We haven't had an issue with heat yet, and we have a digital cable box, GameCube, PS2, DVD changer and receiver in there.
