Hi guys,

I was looking through this weeks Home Depot add and saw this really nice wire shelf that's excellent for any home applications. These things can store up to 350lbs on each shelf..........very nice I think.

I'm going to buy 2 and use one for my TV in our bedroom, just like the picture shows.

Here's a link to what it looks like and the details. Please cut and paste the picture to your hard drive if you think you'll view it more than once. I don't have a ton of bandwidth to share. I can't leave the picture up forever either. If anyone else has bandwidth to share please feel free to add a link of this pic to your site too.

The Shelf add

You cannot buy this online. This is a B&M deal only. I have no idea who has it in stock and who doesn't.

Hope this is good for someone else. 🙂

Ahh..thanks.

Shelves always come in handy 🙂

350lbs per shelf? That's like 5 Shaquille O'Neal's 😀

don't quote me on the price, but K-Mart has these same shelves for like $39. A few other metal shelves (not wire) for $20.

Just recently went shelf shopping with the wife and Home Depot was the most expensive place for shelves. K-mart was the cheapest, followed by Wal-Mart, then Lowes.
Just FYI

<< looks cool

My dad just bought like 10 gorilla racks to put in our basement.

there are 2 versions of this:

Target sells the 5 shelve version for 39.99 but it is always out of stock

Kmart and Ames sells the 4 shelf version.

I have this shelf....looks nice, and holds a ton.

Also very easy to assemble and disassemble...a plus if you're in college or move often.

Also, IMHO, putting together those metal shelves can be a pain as they're very cheaply built, despite their claimed weight capacity.

Anyone know if the shelves at Kmart are the 4 shelf, 18"x40"x74" or 4 shelf, 14" x 36" x 54" Wiretech product? I am assuming that they are the second one which is what Target carries.

I use this kind of shelf for my computer stuff.

Since the shelf height is infinitely adjustable, just use a 30" wide door or wooden desktop to straddle from a shelf to a file cabinet and you have a huge amount of storage for a limited amount of space.

I work for a company that sells modular office components like this and I have several servers, my personal computer, ISDN modem & router, scanner, laser printer, etc. in a space that uses 36 inches of wall space and 5 feet of desktop space extending from the wall. I have a keyboard drawer under the desktop and there is plenty of space on my desktop to work on new computers, etc.

The wire shelving is very good for routing wires and tie-wrapping them down.

I highly recommend this stuff!

These are great shelves, I own several bought at BJ's for the same price. Wiretech are heavy duty shelves. I did not see the same size or quality at K-M or W-M. I got in the 60% off deal at Home Depot a few wks ago & picked up several Chromed Baker Racks. I combined some of the black shelves parts with some of the Baker Rack parts to make myself a computer desk. They were both 36" wide and had the same diameter posts so they went together great. This may not be very hot but it is a nice warm deal. I did buy from Target a 13Dx23Wx31H" wire shelf from a different manufacture for my printers. This had thinner wire in the shelves but was good enough for what I needed it for, just saying, be careful on comparing.

It looks like the target shelf is probably made by the same company, however, the Home Depot version has 5 shelves instead of 4 from Target and the dimensions are bigger from the one at Home Depot.

If you do the math, you're paying the same amount in componants. Each shelf in both instances cost basically $10 a piece (4 shelf $39, 5 shelf $49).

IMO the Home Depot deal is better because of the extra shelf and it's wider and deeper. But hey, it all depends on what you need it for. 🙂

I didn't mention HOT because I figured there were other places to get the same kind of thing for a similar price. It's nice deal though, like I said in the title.

I had to ask where they were when I went. They had them in the so called "bulk area" located in the front of the store with all the other "bulk area" stuff.

Geez Conjur, you have a lot of boxes there. Cool way to store them though.

I got these for $19, when homedepot had that big sale.
They were marked clearance. I might have the receipt, and the sku, if anyone wants it.

These are called "Metro style shelving" I think. This stuff has been around for like 50 years. I have bought about 6 or 7 units from Costco and Sams club. I have the Chrome ones in 36 and 48 inch widths. They run about $65 for the 5 or 6 shelf units and are rated at 600 per shelf or 3000 lbs for the whole unit. What I like about the these is that they come with wheels, but that lowers the weight rating. It doesn't matter though because I don't load them to 3000 lbs! The heaviest thing I have on a shelf is my 36" Sony TV and the shelf is rock solid. I use these things for computers, home entertainment and bookshelves. I really love the wheels, I can roll the shelves out and get to all the wiring and everything.

i have 3 such units in my room. one is the one shown. one is a much smaller unit, and one is a medium sized unit.

I see this same shelf at Sams (in silver/chrome) all the time - unfortunatally, I've never looked closely at the price. Good units, and if I ever live in something more than a rented bedroom - I might actually buy some.. (heh, it's good to be a cheap, single SOB).
