I've used two of these on our home systems for a couple of years with no trouble. Great for home use but lacking for the professional.

Guess I'll be stopping up HD 2morrow to see if my local one has any. Found out how bad it sucks to have a brownout after playing PSO for 2 hours without a save... Thanks for the heads up! :)

I bought one of these for my second computer a couple of months ago. I am remodeling and I always look to see if they are gone yet. I don't know why I do that then I have to talk myself out of buying one. ;) I ended up buying another a couple weeks ago. Now I have one for my computer and use a second to run my lcd,the router and cable modem. So now I can surf for 20 minutes after power goes off.

2 out of the three HD I shop at are sold out and have been for quite some time. The third one still has a couple of cases of them on the shelf as of about two weeks ago.

Hmmm I'll have to drop by my local OD tomorrow and see if they have any on hand. Could be quite handy to run my fileserver/NAT when the power goes out. Already have a 1400 VA UPS for the main PC, hub & router so I can surf for around 40-50 minutes after the power goes out. It'd be nice to have for the fileserver/NAT box that the wireless clients (laptops) go through.

D'oh, well I'll drop by the local HD then. Dunno why I put OD up, probably because I don't associate UPSs with them.

they had these on sale at OM last week for $20. It's a good pickup. I run two athlon systems on it (no monitors) and get enough backup power to go through short outages. Just don't connect your monitors cause that'll overload it if you want 2systems on there.

edit: sorry I meant Officemax no officedepot

Went to my local HD today and went looking for the APC UPS for this hot deal. Unfortunately they were out of the APC but I found a pair of Belkin 350 VA UPSs on the shelf marked for $18.99. Not quite as good as $15 I figured, but what the hell a couple more bucks is no huge deal. Went to the self checkout (love those things) and they ran up $15 apiece SCHWEEET! So if your local HD is out of the APC UPS check around for the Belkin. What's really nice is that the software it comes with is compatible with Linux as well as Windows 98/2000/XP which is great for my Linux servers.

EDIT I'm a moron and somehow didn't see the post 2 above mine that has this same information. Sorry.

============
Staples has a 450v Energizer for ~$10 after rebate. They've been OOS on the website since this afternoon (when I had one in my basket and was about to check out and all of a sudden it went from 5 day delivery to out of stock) but there were a ton of them at my local Staples.

It's also got a USB connection instead of serial

Too bad there aren't any Staples nearby me. For all I can tell there isn't a single one in the state of CO :(

I'm with you. I would associate HD with UPS either.

And just to let you guy know, this UPS don't last long at all. I mean I fully charge it up to 100% and leave it hook in my PC to measure how much batt. time it have left, it drop down kinda fast even without anything plug in. I also notice that every time it beeps to warn you that the power is out, it drops even faster.

Anyway, I give this UPS to my sister to use for her light if the power go out. She don't need it, but it's nice that she have a couple of a extra time to clean up if the power go out while she study.

I just wanted to remind everyone that these have been on clearance for a couple of months now. That makes it a big ymmv. ;)

I very well could be wrong, but everyone keeps saying this has been going on a while...

I know of at least 2 threads that talked about the Belkin 350VA on sale for $15 but this is the first mention I've seen on AT that mentions the APC. At the time of the original thread I couldn't find a review of the Belkin UPS (since then I have) so I held off. I own 5 of these APC 350VA and love them.. gonna pick me up a couple more tomorrow if the local HD has any :)

I just reread the title. I was talking about the Belkin. The last time I was at HD the Belkin was the only ups on the shelf. Good point RDMustang1 I didn't catch the APC the first time.
