Home delayed again?

The reports coming out of the beta were indicating that Home was much less developed than the press releases were implying. That's the problem with developer-controlled previews - you don't know if you're seeing the tip of the iceberg, or the entire ice cube. This time, it seems it was more of the latter.

At this rate they are going to end up rolling home into the PS4.

Is anyone excited about home? From what I've seen (which is admittedly very little) there isn't much to be excited about with home.

I'm with you on this as I don't really see the point. They would be better off just copying xbox live and offering it for free.

Is Home going to be a paid subscription service? Or is it just an add on to the PSN? I've read some info on it, and it really just sounds like an answer to a question that nobody asked. I really don't want my console to be a myspace like community. I just want easy gaming and game matchmaking abilities.

I really couldn't care less that it's postponed(again).

By the time Home acctually comes out, it will probably be a huge let-down. SO much hype for something that, in all honesty, isn't really all that great.

You get to make an avatar, you get your own space to spruce up and personalize, and you get to walk around a virtual mall etc.

It will probably be cool for a while, but Sony's real challenge is giving it lasting appeal. I'll be interested to see how they do that.

Man, PS3 owners are just getting screwed. That's, what, a year of delays for the beta? Who knows if/when the actual service will launch.

We got a cool new store, we got Blu Ray profile 2, we got an update that resumes our movies where we left them off even if we take them out and turn off the console. We got dualshock 3 and PSN is free.

How am I getting screwed exactly?

Still worse than the 360's, although it beats the Wii's handily. Still, kudos, it's not nearly as painful to use as the previous store.

we got Blu Ray profile 2

Which provided features that the 360 users already had with their HD-DVDs. You would have been better off listing DTS-HD MA.

Which is a feature of many other DVD players - including the 360, I believe.

We got dualshock 3

Which is still not quite as good as the 360's controller, but this is a matter of opinion, I admit. It was, however, a travesty that it didn't ship at launch.

PSN is free.

And, unfortunately, you still get what you pay for, which is a remarkably uneven experience from game to game.

Before you accuse me of being a fanboy, read my sig and know that I play Warhawk almost nightly. All the systems have flaws, and Sony has been doing well to correct the ones on the PS3, but this isn't always the same as adding new, innovative features. Home is supposed to be the killer new innovative feature - I'm looking forward to it, but they keep delaying it!

Wait, why'd you throw in Dualshock 3? It's not like they're giving you a free upgrade or something. It's just available now, so you can pay $50 to upgrade to a controller that has a feature that should have been there in the first place. I can't say I'm too happy about that, although I knew what I was getting when I bought the system.

Matter of preference. I hate the blade system. The PSN store looks damn sleek

Too bad HD DVD is DEAD

It was. Now it isn't

Personal Preference. I hate the crappy 360 D Pad. Also, I can recharge mine in any USB port there is and not have to buy batteries every 3 days.

And, unfortunately, you still get what you pay for, which is a remarkably uneven experience from game to game.

I like PSN cause its free and functional. It works perfectly lag free with many games

That's sort of my view. Home would be an interesting bonus and I would like to try it out, but that's really all it is... a bonus. As long as they keep tweaking the firmware/OS and adding useful features I'm fine.

If they could just figure out how to add a univeral chat system like Live then I would honestly be satisfied. I like how on Live you can start a chat with anybody at any time no matter what either of you is currently doing on the system.

I don't think so myself. I'd personally say it's about on par.

Too bad HD DVD is dead.

[edit] Haha.. tenshodo13 said the exact same thing.

Should have listened to all those people that said "Buy a 360 instead of a PS3" then you wouldn't have these worries.

I didn't buy a PS3. I bought a 360 because it meant I could get GH2 and Rock Band and be able to play Rock Band with a full ensemble. I rarely even play consoles anymore, save for House of the Dead and VC on my Wii, and whatever on my SNES.

I've always wondered what the big deal is about Home myself. I guess it comes with its version of achievements, which means I'd probably get more use out of my games. But the whole Second Life fantasy world thing doesn't appeal to me.
