home-built laptops?

Is there a market at all for do-it-yourself laptops? Like can you buy cases and processors ect ect for them and make them yourself? Or is it a retailer only deal?

Not that I am in the market for one or anything, but I always wondered.

tiger direct used to sell one that you could put any socket 7 chip in. If you are an OEM you can usually buy a shell laptop, with no hard drive, ram or cpu and just put it all together.

Try getting a junker TP on E*bay and rebuilding it. That's the closest thing I've found to home-built laptops

That would add up to more money once you're done with it.
