I have no space left in my sig.

digital coax and optical there is no difference in quality and in 99% of cases a cheapy will do you just fine unless it is a very very long cable. Anything up to 15' and possibly longer, the radioshack brand will do you fine.

In a digital signal only 1 and 0 values are read so any noise that could affect the coax will not register at all when it is decoded. Optical cables are immune to both EMI and RFI noise which is their only real advantage although in practice the signal is still read exactly the same.
