So there was a week where I got too lazy to mow the lawn and I received a notification letter from the home association to cut my grass. So, I sent back an apology letter and mowed the lawn the next day. Ever since then my grass has been trimmed regularly. Yet, I received another letter today saying that i should mow my lawn and this letter is the last warning and I should respond to the letter in 15 days or I will be charged $25. The letter was dated yesterday when my grass was already trimmed to the ground. I'm going to call them tomorrow and I dont know how I should come off. Should I be mad or just explain...... they seem to have nothing better to do than bugging people to cut their lawn for fine.

Tell them to sit and spin. Come measure your lawn themselves, nothing I would really worry about.

The agreement you signed with the HOA should have guidelines for how lawns should be maintained. If you are not abiding by your agreement, then take all measures to ensure that you are able to meet the guidelines. If you are within the guidelines, then just mail them a response quoting the statute and tell them nicely to shove it. Don't use the phone, and send the response via certified mail so that you have a record of your communications with HOA should the matter go to court. As is always, I am not a lawyer so take this advice on your own risk.

Severed heads of prized horses in the beds of HOA members. That'll learn 'em.

I hate these assholes.

My pops is currently feuding with his. They are forcing him to flood his lawn with chemical BS. He lives on a canal in FL and he is a Biologist. More than anyone in his neighborhood, he understands what that bullshit does to the environment and the effects it will inevitably have on their property value--far worse than a "Biologically diverse" natural lawn would ever have.

tell 'em to eff off. oh...and don't forget the horse heads ;)

How can Americans allow organizations like HOA to exist. Having the power to force people out of their own homes, I just dont get that.

Dear god I hope I can live somewhere decent without a homeowner's association. It sounds like the organizers are the extremists who can afford to spend their lives being concerned about ensuring that all grass in the area reflects precisely the right wavelength, and is exactly the right height, to within 1/1000th of an inch.

Put something caustic on the HOA president's lawn. Spell out "DOUCHEBAG" in large letters.

If you moved into a place with an HOA, and signed the agreement when you moved in, then you have to abide by their rules. Which is exactly why I will never live anywhere that has a HOA.

I don't even know where to begin. Don't let reality hit you too hard when you first meet up with it.

The way you present your property has an effect on the value of surrounding property.

HOA are usually old people with nothing better to do than stick their nose in everyone's shit from what I found out though.

Reality. Heres reality. This is a map of the house you sold me. Heres the things I added on to it. As you can see with all that other shit you call landscaping I installed remote detonated mines in a 5 foot away from each other in all directions in the lawn. A laser perimeter sets of a alarm in my house where I have 20 pounds of bullets and several automatic rifles. Cameras cover the whole area. The doorknob of the house is charged with a lethal amount of electricity when the laser alarm is tripped.

Have fun trying to do anything. If by some chance you make it in the house it is laced up to implode on itself. I have built a tunnel leading out of it to a remote location half a mile away. Have fun.

I agree. Home is sacred, and absolute. It is worth defending by any means necessary. When enough idiots are killed because they think they can run other peoples lives the madness will finally end.

They'll fine you and eventually foreclose on your home. It makes absolutely no sense to me how we allowed it to get this bad.
