6 figures a month means I hire the job out.

j/k...Fixed the washer a while back when the cold valve broke. IIRC, less than $10.

Tons of sites out there. I find you tube great as well.

More common your appliance and proven the technology, the better off you are on troubleshooting/fixing.

I fixed just about every appliance I own. Recently...
Solenoid on Gas Dryer
Clutch on the washer
Water Inlet Valve on fridge

YouTube saved me from a costly service call or worse, buying a new lawn mower. It would start but wouldn't stay running. Turn out to be an easy fix taking out the carb and give it a thorough cleaning, something I wouldn't be too comfortable doing without seeing it done first on video.

Repair Clinic is about 4 miles from my house. Little retail outlet in front of a huge warehouse. Love that place.

Never realized that they were in Canton. Cool.

I am not a fan of buying cheap and then disposing once it's dead, I would rather buy something high quality and keep it up and running via repairs, so this is a good one.

The new computerized washers and dryers support your practice ^.
They are quite unreliable in the long run, so it is far better to keep an older set going than to simply "go get new".
The newest sets have multiple boards and the "repairs" as they call them consist of replacing boards and hoping you got the right one. The costs are astronomical.

Quite brilliant by the manufacturers. Make products that don't last as long, manufacture them in a manner that thwarts repairs by the consumer (which board is it???), and sell the parts at a price that makes us question whether it's even worth the repair.

There's nothing more satisfying than taking a 20 year old washing machine that someone was going to throw out, tossing in a new set of dog teeth for $15, and preemptively replacing the coupler, for about $12, resulting in a like new washing machine.
