I would be interested in driving a Prius to see how it's regen braking works. The regen braking on my Insight is seamless and flawless. The slightest touch of the brake pedal gives full regen braking. Push it harder, and you enter into the hydraulic brakes.

I've had the car for 60,000 miles and haven't had to change my pads yet. I would say that 80%+ of the time, I only use the hydraulic brakes for the last 15-20MPH. Engine braking and 7200kW of regen braking take care of the rest.

So we should change the law so it says following distance is a minimum of 2 seconds, except in Toyotas because they're 50% less safe than all other cars. But ppl would cry.

Not like that matters. Nobody maintains a safe following distance. Every time you try some retard takes the space you left between yourself and the next car.

Funny isn't it? 10+ mile commute, and that one car further ahead at the light is going to make such a huge difference.

I love crusing in the right lane, at or slightly above the speed limit and not bothering to pass if the person in front of me is doing a decent speed. There is always someone racing around weaving in and out of lanes trying to get ahead, and ultimately you end up passing them without even trying and they get so pissed off they swerve around and fly past you for the 4th time... never mind when you're in a car that could hand them their nuts in a paper bag.

Strange that full is at the slightest touch of the pedal. In Prius as you push harder your meter that shows how much charge is going into the battery increases; push harder the meter is longer. Only when it tops out do you do friction braking, which is in addition to the regen. Regen stops entirely at about 7mph and you're all friction brakes then. When you let off the gas there is a very slight regen braking similar in feel to a normal car's motor dragging on it. On Cruise when you press "down" to slow it actually increases regen braking, so you actually get _active_ deceleration--something I've never seen in a normal car, since to do that in a normal car the brakes would have to kick in, which cruise can't do.

Seriously. I love when I'm moving along, and I get stuck behind a guy going well under the limit in the left lane. So I keep my distance, and wait for him to pass whoever he's been trying to pass. As I'm doing this, of course somebody has to pass me on the right and get in between us. The first car finally gets room to move over, and the guy that passed me on the right now drives alongside him until I get to my exit. He didn't want to go the speed limit or even pass anybody, he wanted to be in "the front". Moving to the far left of the lane, flicking your headlights, nothing will get this guy out of the left lane. He EARNED being in "the front".
