congrats.. thats a good score.

I know someone that got a 370 on theirs. and that INCLUDED the 200 points for their name.

Edit: Oh and i forgot to add, I was already accepted into my first choice BEFORE i even took my SAT's . good thing too.. Because i blew them. got a 960

I got a 1240 myself, my first and only try because it got me where i wanted to go...

i got 790 math, 450 verbal... yeah i suck in verbal, but i didnt care because english is not my native language...

either way, congrats to iskim86 🙂

i got a 1120 on my sat's, something like 700/400 or the like.

but i got a 28 ACT score.

and buhbye first tier college? buwahahaha.

Purdue is a high college and i got into it bia.

welll... lemme just say i was in the 97.5th percentile. AND I wrote this test from India 😀. Hasn't gotten me anywhere though... I'm stuck in a useless college 🙁

Nah...my first time I got a 1050. 2nd time I got a 1350.

Only took the ACT once and only got 29 but I was happy.

I thought the lowest you could get was 200 on each section, or 400 overall?
 
Not going to thread crap but I'll be honest with you. I have no idea how good of a score that is if you want to go to a college in Hawaii, but unless you have a 3.5 or over and a really good essay in California, Riverside might even reject you. UC/CSU weigh GPA way too much with the way our education system is. Some schools, a 3.5+ requires knowing what 1+1 is. Others, like mine, are so competitive and everyone gets over 3.5 but they do it taking calculus and english/phsyics honors, and then they eliminate each other when it comes time to applying to college.

Anyways, that score may be just fine for where you want to go to college, and hopefully it is, because my 1280 (1210 first try) wasn't enough to make up for my 3.0 gpa. Longbeach State was the best CSU that would let me in.

edit: after reading a couple other posts, yeah exceptions happen but they're rare. Write an incredible essay or do other stuff and your chances go up but you can't say the odds are in your favor.
 
my friend got a 1490 or something... on his 4th try as well. hehe. i think he started w/ a 1250 or something.

I got somewhere in the low 1200's. no prep, so it was like 700 math/500 verbal. heh. took it twice.. shoulda learned and prepared for the second one.. but.. well.. didn't and it came out the same 😛. screwed me over in the end, but that's how life goes

I only got around 1270 but I had over 4.0 GPA and a lot of extracurricular activties, and was accepted to UCLA and Cal. So don't worry.

I ended up going to UC Davis though due to monetary reasons and proximity to home (my father had cancer 🙁 RIP dad).

Uhh this is a score that tells you what college you get into and your tellin him not to try to get a better score? I really doubt you could've aced it if you took it 4 times.

That's what I was going to say! Except I only got a 1270 on my SAT's, only took 'em once cuz I don't plan to go to college. I probably would have spelled "You're" right, but I can't guarantee I would have capitalized it.

You and your 1100 probably would have said "your". Sheesh 🙂

Good work.

When I took the test I expected to do better on the math but I ended up scoring higher on verbal. I think that was partly because I made blind guesses on the math part instead of just leaving them blank.

Well, seeing as how you don't know me or know what I'm capable of,;yeah, you're right, I couldn't ace it.

Anyone can ace the test if they took it 4 times within a reasonable period of time. Your score should increase with every retest unless you're doing something wrong.

There's no point posting my score because, regardless of what it is, you probably won't believe it.

Colleges look at more than just your SAT score. Granted, if you score low, you're going to have a harder time getting in, but if you have the right GPA, extracurriculars, and a good essay, they'll give you a second look no matter your score. Same with postgraduate work.

I was just being a prick. I don't know what a good or bad score on those kind of tests are. I never did any of that college prep crap in high school, as I really had no intention of ever going past school. I hated school, and abhorred the idea of an additional four or more years of it.
 
To all the thread crappers, SAT means almost NOTHING to most colleges that aren't full of stuck up rich pricks. Colleges with common sense understand how much bullsh!t the SAT and ACT are. If you decide to take it again, which can't hurt, do it for your own self-satisfaction and not the elitist nerds here giving you sh!t.

Make sure you keep your GPA high and take AP/advanced classes and you'll be fine.
