Holy smokes...1600+ XP @ 1.8ghz (2200+) really blowing through work units!

Sounds like you need to tweak your memory settings😉 ,seriously though you will likely find that you'd get faster WU times if you lower the FSB & set more agressive memory timings.Setting CAS2 & 4way interleave make the biggest improvements

Dang. I have an AGOGA 1900+, but my KX7-333 sucks. I can't even run it at 133mhz as cas2. I have to run it at 3-6-3-3, and I know that the stick will do 154mhz at 2-5-2-2 at 2.5V. I'm gonna RMA it to Newegg and get something else. What would you recommend?

I have a XP1600+ AGOGA which I bought with refurb KX7-333R and I've been running it at 10.5x160=1680Mhz. I have 2 pcs of 256MB DDR PC2100 from Crucial. It's been crunching out WUs in about 3.5hrs. I'm considering getting another. 🙂 Good luck.

Well, I'm running my 1.6GHz at 1.75GHz and I'm averaging 3h13min per WU, but I could get better times if I could run at cas 2 instead of cas 3.

Personally, I would go for a 8K3A or 8K3A+. Both boards have been proven to be excellent overclockers, with some people running 200mhz FSB + without a hitch. Since you are RMA'ing to Newegg, you probably will be getting it from there, but if you can get a credit instead, check out Mwave for awesome prices on Epox boards. They have the 8K3A for ~$78, and the 8K3A+ for ~$95. Also a big plus, both of these boards support the internal thermal diode of the XP core...🙂

Take it easy...

Thanks bud, I really appreciate it. I went ahead and ordered the 8K3A from Newegg for $89 since I know that I'll get it tomorrow. I got a refund for the KX7-333, so I don't have to wait for them to get it to get store credit.

Now to drop by Kragen to pick up a defroster kit to unlock my XP.

Wow, that's amazing. My 1800+ from Newegg in June was an AGKGA step. It won't run over 150MHz FSB. The system won't even POST. MB is a Shuttle (probably the bottleneck, here), 512MB of Kingston PC2100 at CAS2.5 w/ all other settings as low as they go.

Nice to know that those AGOIA 1600's will hit 1.8MHz. I'm jealous now!! I spent more on my processor but I'm getting less out of it! Shoot!!

Btw is the XP1600+ AGOGA a Thoroughbred version?

No, the only T-Bred core that is out is the 2200+. They actually run hotter since the core is much smaller than the XP and the Tbird, so there is less contact area between the HSF and the core...

Also, the new T-Bred core offers no performance improvements, just slightly lower voltage. 🙂

I was thinking of picking up one of these unlocking kits from HighspeedPC.com. Looks like a pretty complete kit, and the price is not bad @ $12 either...🙂

Heh. I saw that too, but $12 + shipping + waiting... I just picked up the defroster kit for $7 and some super glue for $1. I also picked up some 2000 grit wet/dry sandpaper since the markings on the chip are engraved on my heatsink. :Q
