Actually conservatism is on a sharp rise thanks in no small part to the actions and policies of Obama. So if you want to blame anybody, time to start blaming Obama. He's a political liability now.

Keep repeating that to yourself if it makes you feel better. You got your fallacious polls and right wing circle jerking to support it right?

NY-23 was lost because of the super nut conservatives. I hope the trend continues.

Craziness is on a sharp rise though. Need ammo anyone!?

I like some of the stuff on there about deficits and guns. Then it all falls apart when they remind me why I never want to be associated with these bigots. You have to support the DOMA and Iraq....

Once again we see the typical lefty just loves to call people of color "lazy n*****s" under the guise that it is, allegedly, a Republican thinking it yet the only time I hear/read that word, it's a lefty uttering it.
At least in public.

In fact nearly the whole thing is pretty much just anti-Obama talking points and not really principles or solutions.

That's exactly what I was thinking while reading it. That is a list of talking points and current agendas, not a set of values, or principles. Crap like this makes me cringe at being a registered republican.

The problem is how will they enforce those values. Are they going to not talk to members who don't belong to the special club ?

Did you not read the article? It says no party funds or party endorsement if you reject 3 or more out of the 10.

I think of the 10 only a few are even subject to controversy for moderate Repubs:

1. Gay mariage

2. Amnesty (McCain)

The others:

2nd Amendment rights? How's that even controversial?

Federal funding of abortions? It doesn't say simply 'abortions', it's federal funding. Again, not really controversial.

'Victory' in Iraq & Afganistan, and/or supporting the military's recommendations? Not really controversial, but also rather vague with a lot of wiggle room. (How is "victory" defined? Doesn't say)

"Small gov, less deficits" etc. Same as above

Same for the rest on the list.

Anyway, they'd get to disagree on 2 before any problems. Since, for example, you could be a pro-gay marriage, pro-illegal immigrant amnesty Repub and still be welcomed I'd say it's hardly any big deal.

What it might do is stop some in-fighting; as long they meet at least 8 nobody can say they are a RINO etc. I.e., it approves, and codifies dissent within the party.

Again, those who disagree on 3 or more aren't getting kicked out the party (although the OP implies otherwise). It's just that they won't endorse you (and why should they) or give you campaign funds raised by the national party (and why should they) if you don't mostly agree with them.

Small government? Ok, how about:

(6) We support victory in Iraq and Afghanistan by supporting military-recommended troop surges;
(8) We support retention of the Defense of Marriage Act;

So, small government, as long as it does exactly the things you want it to, like deny homosexuals the same benefits you and I enjoy, and support a never ending war that is costing us unfathomable amounts of money.

Got it!

So what benefits are homo/poly/besti/upsy/downsy/tranny/pedi/etceteratasexuals missing?

The right to go through the legal divorce process in addition to the heartbreak of a broken relationship? The right to make child support payments with adopted kids that are likley already reeling from being dealt a hard hand? The right to change diapers for a year or two or three or four? The right to deal with teenagers that you just spent about a cool hundred thousand dollars trying to educate being killed/arrested/doped out/calling you out/turning liburul? How about burying them cause they went to war to protect your rights to post here without the secret police taking you in for a bit of slap and tickle or to stop the next martyr wannabe from detonating a pocket nuke in your local shopping mall?

I consider myself lucky in the marriage lottery, cause I know way too many people that live with divorce.

Can't two working adults get health insurance without getting married? I sure did. Can't two working adults set up living trusts, take life insurance out for each other, go to a play, a movie or buy a house together? I did all those things without being married.

Who's stopping you from loving another adult? The liberal peeping toms that need to examine everyone's sex life for political correctness?

Stay away from kids (seriously, partner!), my dog, and my farm and I have no problem with whatever it is you do for ha hahs with some other idiot's butt hole. In fact, I am seriously bored with all the narcissism.

Power to the People!

My neighbors are a gay couple, one works for a large company with pretty decent health benefits. The other is a laid off auto company employee. They filed to have him added to his partners health policy, company said no.

How again is that equal to what would happen to a heterosexual couple?

Its funny how the concept of truth is so alien to you that you project a conservative position on another party. Just how badly did Lawrence Vs Texas upset you?

I read it and still do not see how it can control anything unless the majority agrees. If some follow and some don't all they will succeed in doing is splitting their own party.

Now, there will be even fewer moderates in the GOP. Who's brilliant idea was this?

The likes of McCain and Bush must never be allowed to corrupt conservatism again. If you opposed either man then you would be cherishing the notion of scrubbing the likes of them from the GOP.

Don't hold your breath though. These party elite only seek to gain power, not to conserve the nation we once had. That would require them to relinquish their power and return it to the people as the founders once did. These men in power today will never do that willingly.

ha - #1 is cute. Its their way of saying "we want to oppose Obama spending bills, but in the end, be free to spend whatever we want, and ring up whatever deficits we see fit. We aren't really fiscally conservative, we just want to spend money in different ways than Obama"

I don't pretend to be really knowlegeable about party structure and rules so I could be wrong, but it looks to me like this is an RNC thing.

I.e., don't meet the guideline and the RNC won't endorse you (like anybody would really care?). I don't see why the state or local party couldn't endorse you, or even any individual national Repub politician if they wished.

No RNC funds? That could be a bigger deal. The RNC solicits for funding, and they distribute that in some (sleazy?) way now. I couldn't find any good data on it quickly, but I'm betting it's not much anyway unless you're in a high profile national race or a highly contested district they've targeted.

So, unless you're running for President I doubt this means much, even then I'm doubtful.

I suspect this has more to do with posturing themselves for future fundraising efforts than anything else. When they start up the phone banks for campaign pledges they'll be able to tell people the money will only go to "real republicans".

Looking at this list and comparing to current moderate Repubs like McCain, Snow and Collins I don't see where they have any real problems given the ability to disagree with 2 items, plus the wiggle room in them. E.g., McCain swears his immigration proposal isn't "amnesty".

They're more and more out of touch by the day. Dems won a majority in Congress precisely because they invented the term Blue Dog, yet Republicans don't see conservative Dems winning Southern seats as a threat to the Republican base despite them winning the past two elections. And despite an economic crisis, bailouts, and policy that is currently very unpopular across the board, Repubs still aren't not polling well enough to take either chamber. McCain was exactly the type of candidate they needed, and he still lost huge. Going in the other direction is a great way to purify the party...and lose elections.

Good we need to know where people stand amongst all these bought politicians and hold their feet to fire when they cave to the top 1%.
Democrats took power and I notice no difference in things they champion. Detroit et al is still a shithole. Millions are without health insurance and many dieing because of it. Millions without jobs. Troops still in harms way on nebulous mission. Always careful not to step on toes of TPTB they so-called compromise their ideals too when they don't have to.
