"This bear was killed on Hitchenbrook Island, Central Alaska. This bear's hide measured
12' 6" and it weighed around 1600 lbs. The hunter was walking to his deer
hunting area and the bear stood up only 35 yards away. The bear
immediately charged and he shot the bear until his gun was empty and the
bear finally fell just 10 yards in front of him. "

Yeah, although I'm not an animal activist (quite against that kind of crap actually), animals like that should die in the wild.

Either way...humans are always more important than animals so if that guy felt his life was threatened (well....the damn thing charged him) then no doubt he should've wasted it.

Kudos to the guy with the gun. Lucky for him he had 35 yards between them. I hate to say it, but if it were me I would have been found dead with soiled underwear.😱

wow... i'm surprised the guy wasn't run over by the bear... if i remember correctly, a bear shot in the head can still run 50 or so yards (depending on size).... but damn... that's a huge beast!

I don't believe that the bear charged anyone. I think the guy just wanted a big bear head to put on his wall and brag about which makes me sick and I really hope he gets fined up the ass.

<< Sheesh, nothing like jumping to conclusions. I'm all for not being cruel to animals, but come on >>

Give me a break, the guy has his hunting gear still on and is holding the frigging thing like a trophy. You are just gullible, i'm not jumping to conclusions and i'll bet he is being investigated about it. BTW, did he go home with any deer? I somehow doubt it.

poor bear...

Stupid rednecks are always wrecking the natural order of balance with guns...that guy should have died.

Dear and Big Game season are generally the same time. So he was probably in his legal rights to do this. Also hunters don't kill for the sake of killing. I've hunted for the past 20 years and have only harvested (yes a politically correct term for killing) one dear. The meat I couldn't eat was given to the food bank. It's actually because I'm a bad shot. If I can't take the deer or bear down in a humane manner, I do not shoot.

Let's keep building houses where woods once stood. Let's keep pushing these animals into smaller areas, then complain when they run into our car or wreck or gardens. Let's keep letting the animals reproduce and not thin out the herds as they say. Without coyotes, wolves, and other animals to eat the deer, they would overpopulate and starve. Would it be nice if the world was a rosey place where we all gave hugs and smiled. Sure in your world. But in reality, man is part of the food chain. Otherwise we'd be tree hugging, veggie eating, don't wear leather (check your shoes), bicycle riding hippie throw backs (not pointing fingers). Eat your Big Macs and be blind to the fact that the cows are still alive when the skinning starts, Veal - Don't make me go there. Chickens - Cut the head and put them on a hook. And Corn, ripping them right off the stalk. Oh the pain of the poor beanstalks...... You should open your eyes to the amount of deer and bear taken in this country, compared to cows and pigs. Which meal are you preparing tonight for dinner?
