What kind of bull is Nextel trying to pull. I bought 2 cars (even charged the full price on my last car, just like that)...have never missed a payment EVER on anything I owe, and am currently WAY ahead on my car payments for my new car...

Yet, I can't get a f-cking Nextel phone without leaving a $150 deposit? I don't have much debt, except for my 2006 Honda Civic, which I can pay for in cash if I really tried, and some credit card debt that can be wiped out tomorrow if I so wished. (Of course, I'd be broke...)

What the sh!t is that? I have been with Sprint themselves (with the same phone number) since 1999, and never left a deposit with them even back in the day. I can't help but think this is some scam they tell people just to get their money. I wonder if it is because I live in such a crappy neighborhood.

Anyone else have problems getting a Nextel without leaving a f-ing deposit..? How the hell do little ass kids get them, and I can't?

i dont get how you've never been late with payments but have cc debt except for whatever you've charged in the past month.

if you do mean that cc debt is what you've charged in the past month then how would you be almost broke if you paid it all off?

I pay my bills on a monthly basis, and have never been late. I just don't get how they feel that I need to leave a deposit. :(

There's a difference between being late with a credit card payment and paying on time but not paying the full amount.

my little brother got a nextel phone without a deposit and he's barely 21 and pretty much financially retarded.

I am not sure, I remember being told what it was when I financed my Civic, I believe it was 750 or 760, which I was told was above average..?

It was paid off within a year, and I since cancelled that credit card. This was almost 3 years ago.

It was actually over the phone, about 10 minutes ago. I was told it would be the same thing at a sprint store...

I have no idea what Nextel's deal is. I'm just saying, you're better off not cancelling cards, especially if you've had them for a long time.

Did you ask them why they require a deposit? If it was based on your credit score or some other factor? Maybe you should check your FICO score and your credit report and make sure nothing is amiss.

Yeah, the representative gave me an application number to take to the store, because frankly, I was angry...She said it wouldn't matter since I will still have to pay the $150 dollars regardless.

I was also told that I might still have to pay an early disconnect fee from sprint, although their website specifically states, that it would be waived if I moved service to Nextel. I don't like the local Sprint stores, they are all run by punk-ass children. :(

My wife got a nextel phone with a $100 deposit. She has AWFUL credit. She has more charge-offs than good entries, and a bunch of other crap on there. Her score is sub-600. This was about a year ago.

So something is going on there I think, if you really have great credit and they are requesting a depoist like that.

I had a Nextel account for a long time... back when I signed up, they got a $100 deposit from me. Was credited back 12 months later. :)

But really... they've been known for doing this forever. Research them a little bit. Browse HowardForums. :p

I don't think it matters how much he charged, as long as he makes the minimum payment and on time. I don't see what you're trying to get at.
