i went to sign in on AIM at work, but forgot that i had also signed in at home. usually AIM will just kick off one user, but this time i receive the following message in a message window: "AOL System Msg: Your screen name (theNEOone) is now signed into AOL(R) Instant Messenger (TM) in 2 locations. Click here for more information."

so apparently, now you can be signed in to multiple places at one, and messages that you receive will be sent to all locations. kind of cool, and kind of annoying - but i do like the ability to sign in at multiple locations.

I have one of my accounts signed onto my office computer and my cell phone.

AOL?!?!!??! just who do you think I am..... 😕

btw, there's one pitfall of this new system....file transfers go crazy. you cannot recieve files if you're signed on more than once....you can send files just fine though. and no, you cannot send files to yourself. 🙁

please explain why the feature is annoying. the only problem i can see is the download issue. however, i leave AIM on at home and i'll sign on at least 3 or 4 times at school for 15-20 minute periods, so file transfers aren't an issue. it's pretty damn convenient to be able to temporarily sign on, and not have to worry that you were booted off at home. this way, you don't have to worry about missing any messages that people might want to send.

No. The damn cell phone constantly stays logged in and I am sick of the damn going off everytime I get a new message.

why don't u just get 2 aim names? I have a home one fro my desktop and one for school/work on my laptop. File transfers work great with file sharing on this way....

Doesn't the wireless version (cellphones) of AIM have a limit on buddies? It was some small number like 15 or 25... is this right ? Or do you guys get all your buddies when you login with your cellphone ?

My cell phone will not log off of aim even if I shut down the phone. Any messages sent to the SN are received on my office computer and also send an alert to my cell phone.

Finally.... good stuff. Now I can get rid of those six other SN's =P. Oh wait... I can't, still have to deal with the 200 buddy limit.

I'm not digging this too much. While usefull, I like logging on aim at home and logging myself off wherever else I might be logged in. Make sure nobody messes with my name (i.e. say at work and peolpe seeing messages meant for me only)

how do ppl have so many ppl on their buddy lists... i talk to maybe 10 ppl on my list on a regular basis. heh.

and this feature is pretty nifty. It even keeps your profiles in sync.
