ViewSonic claims VX924 has 3ms response time

July 27, 2005 - 10:57 EST

ViewSonic will relaunch its VX924 19-inch LCD monitor in Taiwan at the Taipei Computer Application Show (TCAS) tomorrow, with the company now claiming the display has a 3ms response time. The VX924 was originally launched in the second quarter of this year and marketed as having a 4ms response time, but after conducting further tests, ViewSonic is confident the product has a 3ms response time

or rather 3ms to 12 ms. 3ms is probably just advetising because each manufatuer has a different way of testing.

Yeah, my 24" is 12MS,

I really doubt your going to notice 10mS difference even if your an extreme gamer.

I was going to say ... Maybe if you were watching a HD movie ... But even then, I doubt you would notice the better blacks in 10ms ... It may be a shade darker in that time but for the eye to catch it I doubt you could tell the difference if they were side by side.

Marketing ploy no doubt.

The reviews seemed to see a small difference in certain things even when comparing to 8ms except BF2 but Im not sure they are pushing 80FPS in BF2 either.

Personally At 12ms on a few monitors I saw some ghosting in games so for the sensive few like me this will certainly be the speed monitor I settle on. Even if 8ms can do it I would rather be safe than have anything annoy me every now and then.

Its safe to say at 3-4ms you wont be needing to upgrade any more.

Im drawing the line in the sand and saying 4ms is the point where CRT has no advantage over LCD.

I don't know.. The difference between a true 25 ms monitor and a 16 ms monitor is pretty noticeable, are you guys sure this wouldn't be noticeable? I'm really tempted to get one..

Dude read Tom's Hardware ok. It's not even that great.
http://graphics.tomshardware.com/display/20050602/index.html

Compare it to the VP191b, and I would get the 191b anyday.

Please I know you guys like deals but don't spam the forum here and go omg so good. If you go to the Video section you'll see people saying the VX924 isn't that great. I guess different groups of people are in different sections...

The reviews say there is a slight noticable difference in certain applications so it must.

In a perfect world.
4ms thats capable of 250FPS
8ms thats capable of 125FPS
12ms thats capable of 83FPS

I would have drawn the line at 8ms but the review suggests just a little more is the Golden Ticket.

The non-accurate color rendering in transition is very annoying in movie, as Tom's hardware review pointed out.

I think I will pass. It should work well for a pure-gaming LCD, but for my need I want a more general purpose LCD for everything like coding to watching movies.

Yeah I just read through all the technical stuff on Tom, this monitor is looking less impressive by the minute. Also, this isn't a "hot deal" regardless since many places seem to have it for $400 or less without coupons or rebates.

Toms Hardware still thinks the Pentiums are faster at everything over Athlon 64.

Really? I always thought that Tom's had an AMD bias, especially considering their last few CPU reviews.

EDIT: Wanted to clarify, bias in favor of AMD

I hoped for his sites sake he did change his tune but its doubfull. He supposedly got free Intel systems from Intel to post positive reviews of Intel based machines. Who do you think he is going to favor after that? He just cant hide it any more since every other site gets diffent results than THG. He was looking like the odd man out.

thats all cool but thats talkin about cpu's and we're talkin about monitors. implying that tom's known bias would carry over to lcd's is just pessimistic, HDTVman. i dont like tom's hardware site either but you still have to be fair.

Thats true but he broke a lot of people's trust in his site when he did that though when everyone else got different results.

His site is ridiculed on tests from everyone all the time. Especially his AMD/INTEL stability tests. What a disaster that is.

I just dont trust his site. Thats why I look at the other sites. Im trying to see what CNET has to say about the monitor. So far I think I am going to take the plunge.

I cant see Viewsonic making a bad product. Its a brand I trust.

It's amazing how much ground that Tom's review has covered. They used a homebrewed meter of some sort and reviewed one monitor.

I can tell you that this monitor is noticeably better in every aspect than an 8ms VP171B. I used both side by side for a week testing games and movies.

I'll trust my eyes before a Tom's review, thanks.
