I hope this isn't a repost.

When the sharp pain shooting through Lisa Strong's back got worse, she thought it was another kidney stone and expected the discomfort to pass. This time was different.

Through a series of mistakes, miscommunications and misdiagnoses, she wound up having her arms and legs amputated. She sued the doctors, who essentially blamed one another for what everyone involved agrees were profound errors.

Everyone except the jury that ruled against Strong.

The verdict came in the face of such overwhelming evidence that in a rare move, the judge tossed out the jury's decision and ordered a new trial.

WTF jury?

wow.

A jury of our peers. I think we all know how stupid our average peer is. It was only a matter of time before 12 of the below average ones all made it onto the same jury. Wow.

Jury nullification?
no.

Jury nullification is when the jury knows you committed the crime and refuses to find you guilty, despite the overwhelming evidence against you.

Isnt it time to start IQ testing jurors? Or better yet just ask them to explain the difference between "to" and "too" should suffice.

I have a feeling that the article is only giving part of the story. The lady should have won regardless though IMO.

she should have just gone to a chiropractor
yes, because that is the proper way to treat kidney stones.

Kidney stones are just a manifestation of the interruption of innate energy flow through the body caused by spinal subluxations. The kidney stone can be treated by manipulating the joints to allow the innate energy to flow correctly. Oh and innate energy just happens to be unmeasurable, undetectable and completely unfalsifiable. But it makes sense, right?

No the problem is all you hear from Faux and other right wing places are how people are sue happy and no one should question a doctor. The person should just live with it etc...

Just like a lot of juries will not convict since they watch CSI and at trial there was no DNA, or picture of a window blown up and "enhanched" to show the person doing the crime clear as day etc...

I am glad the judge in this case did the right thing.

OMG that's horrible. And they even expect her to pay THAT MUCH? WTF?

LMAO with a mistake like that, youd think the 1st thing theyd do to save face would be to write off all the bills.

Hell if i were managing that hospital, I wouldve settled before she even said the word lawyer. Youre obviously going to lose, save the hospitals reputation.
