Korea is an extremely competitive society. There are not many second chances given to you within the country and many are competing for the same resources. You miss a boat than it's very hard to keep pace unlike the US. Women are competing for the same type of men. Bigger eyes = more feminine -> higher reproductive chances

The logical assumptions here at work are messed up. Like, when I say "big breasts and clear skin" are evolutionary advantages, I'm meaning like in man's hunter-gatherer phase this would be true as much as it is today.

Here it's saying that double eyelids are an advantage due to the screwed up nature of society. That's...not really the same.

Bigger eyes = signal higher estrogen = signal youth (scientifically shown) = signal easier conception of babies/higher fertility -> seen as better mates

Harness that self hate and hire a personal trainer to help you bulk up. A strong physique in a man makes up for a lot of problems in the face.

Bigger eyes =/= double eyelid.

For that matter, bigger eyes =/= higher estrogen.

:hmm😛roportionally larger eyes are a trait associated with youth. The eyelid surgery makes their eyes look larger. For a monogamous society, a more youthful looking woman means an effectively more fecund woman because she'll have more childbearing years remaining.

So, eyelid surgery -> larger eyes -> more youthful -> more fertile
 
lol @ the idea that heritage is remotely relevant in this situation. Why the fuck should people be shamed into staying as something they perceive as unattractive just because their ancestors looked that way? That attitude is more sickening than vanity.
 
I'm dating a Korean chick right now and from what I gather, its not so much that they want to be White but rather have certain features. Is a nasal bridge or double eyelid/round eyes exclusive to Whites? Because last I checked I have them, Arabs have them, Indians got 'em and so do all Hispanics. :hmm:

Personally I think Asian women are lucky because they seem to age at 1/5th the speed a White woman does. Most White girls I dated (I'm 35) when I was in my 20s that are my age look haggard now yet the half Chinese girl still looks young. My gf is 31 and everyone thinks she's 24 and are shocked when she mentions being over 30. So I'd rather have skin that endures aging vs having to get botox + plastic surgery just to keep it from hanging off my face. Lastly, Asian chicks don't have much hair at all vs other ethnicity's, so I guess when White girls and others get their hair lasered off, they must be trying to look Asian?

I think there certainly is merit to the argument that some want to look White (and I've even said as much before) but I don't think that anyone can claim it applies to 100% of those seeking to augment their looks with surgery in Korea.

P.S. The vast majority of the ones I know don't want to look White but rather like Kim Tae Hee who everyone in Korea idolizes (she's natural):

lolno. All cultures have their weird quirks when it comes to judging attractiveness. Indians bleach their skin, whitey tans the fuck out of it and develops anorexia, blacks get nosejobs, etc. What do Koreans even have to feel inferior about relative to Americans or Europeans?

Indians bleach their skin due to...the centuries of British colonization, when the ruling class tended to be lighter skinned.

Whites tan because it signifies outdoorsiness.

Blacks don't get nosejobs much AFAIKT, but straightening their hair used to be a big thing. Eventually they developed black pride and black is beautiful, and that kind of put a stop to that practice.

The double eyelid thing is like straightening out kinky hair or bleaching skin. It's not necessary for larger eyes IMO. You could probably make some surgery to make single eyelids larger.

lolno again. Skin darkness and caste level in Indian culture have been inversely correlated before the British ever got involved. "Outdoorsiness"? I guess so, but ultimately they do that because many white people see tan skin as attractive. I agree that it's not as prevalent in black (or at least African American) circles, but you can still find cultural standards of beauty everywhere.

Everything being discussed is ultimately "not necessary", but if it is done because they feel it will help them in finding their ideal partner, what wrong is there? Eyelid surgery within that culture is ultimately no different from people that take Accutane or have their teeth uber-whitened.
 
Explain why Africans never developed a double eyelid surgery craze. Lots of Africans have Asian-like faces, which would have to include single eyelids.

Uh, can't find any. There are lots of Africans with almond eyes though.

It's such a minor minor trait though that the only people who are really going to notice it are phrenologists, Nazis, or the person herself.

Yes. 20% (or however many) of South Koreans do this because it's unnoticeable. Everyone knows this.
