Holy $%# I was 7k miles over for an oil change!

56,000 miles is...wow. But I bet that Civic engine will still run past 100,000 k. (The transmission not withstanding.)

Taxi fleet owners only change filters every 10k and top off oil, never change it.

The 3,000 mile oil change is BS. Even regular dino oil formula has been refined so much over the years since the 70s that it can stand to be used past 10k, and once I stop giving a shit about my current beater, I'm gonna prove this.

Uh, no.

Synthetics MIGHT get you past 10k miles, but if you really want to take good care of your car, 7 to 8k is about as far as you want to push it.

The oil is not the problem - it's breakdown of the additives that prevent seals from bursting/cracking/shrinking and the buildup of shit from engine wear and tear (metal particulates, etc.) that becomes a problem.

Dino juice should NOT be run past 3k. That shit sludges up like crazy. I wouldn't touch dino oil period these days.

^ Analysis. Dino oil is good until 10k if you engine has been broken in properly.

So how many miles total 10 or 12k? Probably fine. MANY new cars recommend this. Especially with your miles at highway mileage it's a fact that you are simply flushing money away changing it every 3k anyway. Go with what you manual says. It doesn't say 3k.

scary, mine says 15k...I do it every 10k though.
