Holy Crap!

I just calculated that I spent $20,758.33 on credit card bills in 2005! (Discover Platinum Gas, AMEX SkyMiles Platinum, and USAA MasterCard Platinum with Rewards).

None of that was spent on interest/paying off debt. That was straight-up merchandise!

:Q

Edit: Updated to actual figure!

I wonder how much of that stuff you still have?

Well, a lot of it was food...and services like hotels in Greece, Austria, Germany, etc., plane tickets...not THAT much physical hardware really.

How many airplane tickets/cashback/points for goodies does this translate into?

I'm now Silver Medallion (finally) on Delta. Got about $100 back on Discover this year.

Means I get to board the plane with the First/Business class folks, upgrades, etc.

Well, I did use 25K miles to go see my GF in Utah. That would have cost me like $500, so yeah the card easily paid for itself in 2005.

maybe you sold a bunch of crap and got cash in return. i buy lots of things but i also get rebates...

No, not really. Bought one $380 lens this year on a CC and sold it for $325. That's it. The other lens I sold this year (to DeviousTrap) was bought in 2004.

54% of my total expenditures went on my CC in 2005. It would have been more but some utilities, taxes, insurance, and the mortgage company don't take CCs. No carryover, no interest, no fees. Rewards are good.

Doesn't sound to bad. I'm up to ~$14k in spending on my card. I use it for everyting.

This is what I love about Canada. We have Debit cards. Instant cash transfer between the bank account and the seller. WAY less use of Credit cards, except for large purchases.
