I just got off work a few minutes ago and was walking to my car. I noticed there was a homeless person nearby, but I've seen her before and she is harmless. I then turn around and look behind me and there is some guy with long hair, I couldn't see his face since it was dark. Well, the guy starts running towards me. I got the hell out of there quickly. My car is a Ford Focus, but carjackers aren't really particular about cars.

Yeah, I'm thinking about it. I'm old enough to carry one (24) but I live in a city where it's much harder to get a permit. I live in Sacramento. First time this has happened to me.

Good reason to carry a gun.

In many states you're going to have to prove there was a legitimate threat to your life and there was no way out of the situation in order to use deadly force (with Texas being the one glaring exception to this rule).

I walked to my car in a hurry and hauled my ass out of there, I was around 15 feet away from my car when I saw him, I didn't look back at him. A coworker of mine had a friend who got beaten to death while closing at a nearby car dealership.

Thanks man, I've had my car broken into but never anything like this happen. I'm going to start leaving earlier and parking closer to the exits.

I've considered getting a gun before when nearby residences were getting robbed awhile back. I'm going to check out the laws.

well, i got taken for about $1500 in jewelry and almost 1K in cash a few years ago in my car at a stoplight on south side...had my windows down and next thing i knew there was a black guy at each front window pointing guns at me

they took 3 rings and my chain and the cash and split...never got caught :|

ever since then i carry a glock 23C on my seat with the clip out of it...if i get pulled over i put the clip in the glove box and lock it and drop the key in between my seats

i keep my hands on the wheel and tell the cop first thing that i have an unloaded firearm in the seat next to me...

close enough to legal and ready to fire in a second

but i haven't had anyone try to rob me again

EDIT: when i'm 25 i should be able to get a concealed carry permit :D

The only run-in I've had before this was that my car was broken into and they took my stereo, cigarettes, and sunglasses. I wasn't around when it happened but they were too stupid to figure out how to open the trunk. They drilled a hole in the keyhole of the trunk but never opened it. My car has a button to open the trunk in the dashboard but they couldn't figure this out.

From then on, I've started to watch my back even more. I considered getting a .45 ACP or something back then but then decided against it. Now, I'm thinking about it again.
