Never seen any evidence to suggest that it had more than a little to do with it.

Again, what difference does it make what goes into the cost of the fuel? Countries with high gas taxes will still see the price at the pump increase if crude oil prices go up.
 
Up 20c/gal in suburban Boston.

Part of me wants prices to keep rising so that alternative fuel can become more mainstream, but I'm not going to lie - I haven't had a pay increase in a couple years and the price of everything rising really sucks.
 
i like how any time a corporation is about to make less profit they can just raise the shit out of their prices and nobody can do anything about it because that company owns all the competiton too... yet whenever we get short of cash to pay our bills we cant just raise our next weeks paycheck...

most people havent had an increase, and many a decrease. and youre right, cost of living has gone up. way up. i wouldnt be surprised if its doubled since the mid 90's, while our pay has pretty much stayed stagnent. minimum wage should be $12 an hour.

Get off the gas tit as much as possible. We have no control over it. I really haven't given much thought to gas prices but this thread definitely makes me wonder about my next vehicle purchase.

What do you do with the prices? Too low, and people piss it away. Too high, where does the money go? Even if they /said/ it was going to good cause, I wouldn't trust them. The only group better at pissing away money than individuals, is governments :^/
 
It's time we stop depending on it. It's expensive, and it's destroying the planet. Time for the ones in power to abolish patents so all the green energy stuff can go public and be used. It's time we evolve.

Thankfully I have a stable job, but property taxes are going up, so is medical insurance (all insurance really), excise tax, etc etc. I'm not living paycheck to paycheck but an extra $50/month going towards gas is $50 less for eating out, movies, vacation spending and the like.

Yeah, well screw those socialists. Here in America we tax the shit out of our gas and give that money back to the oil companies to help repair their equipment for them/cover their costs of doing business and in general helping them to create JOBS.
 
Prices have been dropping $0.01 at a time about once a week for the last 3 weeks, then bam a $0.10 cent increase, now we're sitting at $109.9Cdn.

Gas Prices Continue To Climb, Highest Ever For Early February



The Triple A Chicago says this is a new record: the highest gasoline price ever for the beginning of February.



Prices at many stations in the city are well above $4 a gallon.

According to chicagogasprices.com, you’ll pay $4.29 at the Mobil station at Chicago and Kedzie.

The Triple A blames this unusual winter spike on rising oil prices – they getting close to $100 a barrel – as well as area refinery issues.

to low is far better then to high. with lower gas prices people have more money .

higher prices lead to higher transportation cost (witch leads to higher price on goods), people have less money to spend.

i think with lower gas prices would come down (eventually), people would have more money. With gas being cheaper they tend to drive more. wich helps stimulate different areas.

i think people would spend more wich would help the economy.
 
I paid $3.79 this morning, same place is now $3.85. All the reasons for the price increases are pure 100% BULLSHIT, they just use them to gouge everyone. They know the world cant do anything about it, its greed, plain and simple.

Using more fuel is a problem. It's a finite resource, and money generated from excess use today is taken back for environmental remediation tomorrow. You might say that'll generate more jobs and research dollars, but that's a quarter assed(half would be a vast improvement) way to go about it.That's why the country's going to hell. Live for today, and to hell with tomorrow. that's where our jobs went, and that's where our fuel is going.

I think the $3-$4 range is a decent level for today. People are used to it, and that should generate a decent "profit" for the government who holds it in trust for the people. Where's the money going? I'm not willing to pay for shooting brown people. I'm not willing to pay to have my balls groped in the airport, and I'm certainly not willing to pay for mismanaged companies, so where does it go? The government can't be trusted with anything.
