Holy Crap, This Brings Back Some Memories

Descent was awesome back in the day. It didn't seem possible for games to get any better than Doom.

I remember doing the local multiplayer during computer class (learning Pascal or something) in high school.

i remember playing my friends over a modem on my slow-ass computer. after school, i'd call up a couple of my friends who had the game and organize a multiplayer game. it sucked whenever some of them had to drop off to go do homework or have dinner or something.

i miss those days.

Gog.com is having a sale, buy 1 get 1 free on Interplay titles. You can get Descent 1 & 2 for $5.99 and then get Descent 3+Expansion for free.

1st game I ever played MP over dial-up. I don't think the player in that vid is using a flight stick, because they suck.

OH, wrong forum too.

It was pretty good back in the day.

Of course, most of youse were just kids when that was introduced...I was still an old fart. 😀

Damn, I remember playing that and the sequel. I had 3 as well, but it wouldn't run as well on my crappy PC at the time.

Freespace blew me away when I first saw it. I was like "holy crap, that game is awesome". That game and MechWarrior (2-4, 2 being the reason I got my first computer in '98, lol) were the two sim/action game series' that hooked me like no games in that genre since.

1st game I played over dial-up was Warcraft II. Actually I guess it would be some BBS door games. Then I found the joy of Mechwarrior II (netmech) and Mechwarrior II Mercenaries.

I hated descent, got sea sick every time I played it.

My friend that posts here used to play the BBS games back in the early-mid 90's, I was too busy with work and school to get involved.

Descent was infamous for causing nausea and dizziness, it didn't affect me. Probably because I was a flight sim freak.

Decent was great, we would lug all our towers to a guy's house and 10 Base 2 everyone together.

Yes, 10 Base 2. At the time I was still playing just with a keyboard, no mouse.

Our buddy Fred was hardcore, you didn't have to lug your stuff over, he had a minimum 4 PC LAN running at any given time thru a good bit of the 90's. He would always have his face stuck in a Computer shopper (remember how it was bigger than the phone book back then) Good times.
