I don't run Kazza. For 1 it's stealing. 2 it's a security hazard. So no, I don't run it.

All I need is a 30 second snip clip so I can hear the song and figure out what it is.

Its not stealing if you delete within 24 hours. Or you can choose to buffer only 30 seconds then cancel the download. And Kazaa Lite hasn't been a security hazard for me...in fact the lmhosts file they provide stops a lot of annoying advertising material!

i used to be an honorary punjabi when i was in school. ahaahha my g/f had so many hot indian friends that i was a very popular guy to know -- my friends all wanted me to hook them up. but i'm not hooking up computer nerds w/hot indian girls!! ahhhaha other than me! hahhhaha

Heh, a good friend of mine is pretty much the same situation. He's Taiwanese, but dated an Indian girl, and hangs with a bunch of us Indians. Heck, we joke that he's more Indian than me! Bum, never did do his part to hook me up with any of his g/f's hot friends either. But I'm a cool computer nerd tho'... 😉

on an aside, I love music by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, mostly original stuff not the re-mixes. Does anyone know more songs of that type by other artists?

Has anyone heard of DJ Jiten? He has some good mixes (well his old reggae-hindi mixes were really good, dunno about now since I haven't kept up with the scene). His remix of "Aakiyon Se Goli Maare" and another one that I can't remember the name of were great!
 
LOL, mAdD INDIAN, you must not listen to rap AT ALL. That guy "translating the words in english" is actually Jay-Z, a multi-platinum selling recording artist.

At any rate, I'm not feelin the song because its sooo old ("Mundian To Bach Ke") with/without the rapping. Personally, I think the best use of the "Knight Rider" theme came from Busta Rhymes in "Fire It Up" that was a dope song.

I know who Jay-Z, but I didn't recognize his voice in there. Plus I don't really like his music anyway. I usually listen to Jurassic 5, Nas, Canibus, Mosdef, Slick Rick, 2Pac (or as I like to call him, DhoPac), etc..

No matter how old it is, Mundian to Bach Ke still kicks ass!! The one they play on the radio, does it have any english in it? I haven't heard it on radio yet, but the one I have is pure punjabi. I doubt they'd play that kinda song on mainstream-english-hiphop radiostations?
 
Are there any similiar rap/Punjabi/Bhangra music like this available on CD?

Which artists should I look for?
 
Another song to listen to by Panjabi MC is "Jatt Ho Ya Sharabee" ... really fast (especially for a Bhangra Song) ... and guess what late 80s TV shows theme song they ripped off? Magnum PI (if you listen very carefully in the beginning they even say something to the extent of 'Magnum ... magnum ") ... the other interesting thing about Jay-Z's song is that the title of the Bhangra song translates to "The Boys are coming" and his song, is of course, Beware of the Boys ...
