I think it's his way of telling us that he has lost the cognitive ability to find humor in things. Brain shrinkage is common amongst the older populace. It's honorable on his part to admit to this age related deficit.
Imagine if, in real life, you walk into a room that has "Kids in the Hall discussion!" on the door. You proclaim you have no idea what the topic is and that you are disinterested. And stand there for a couple days. And start all over. Have you bothered to watch any clips?I've never watched this Kids in the hall show....
