The crystal saphire protective screen shown being put to the test is probably most useful in mobile solutions, but I've seen a few busted screens in homes too. Looks like it is fair to say these won't break.

I don't know whether that's true, suspect it probably is, but don't think it's the point. The point is that the crossbow he used in the demonstration (undeniably a lightweight weapon) would have gone through my Dell 2405 panel, and 99.99% of all the other LCD screens out there, with "gone through" being defined as "penetrated the screen and ruined the monitor."

wow, a new LCD that doesn't use a 5:4 or 16:10 aspect ratio. Of course for ~20" and 4:3 aspect, I'd have thought they'd use 1600x1200 but alas we get 1400x1050, kind of odd.

That's a "normal" resolution for budget 20" 4:3 screens in the $200-300 range. The 1600x1200 20" screens cost more.

The article says it's "crystal sapphire," which I believe is the same material scratch-proof watch crystals are made from.

I was just as impressed by the hammer hits, he really put some force behind the one. Far more likely of a scenario as well, there shouldn`t be too many crossbow arrows flying around in average usage.

I don't know about you, but I'm hoping a hammer into my monitor isn't far more likely to happen than ... anything.
