Driving home from work (less than one mile) I saw the sky light up ~8 times. It was crazy... and I'm in Sacramento!

is there a fire somewhere in your pic?

Unless I'm mistaken, that's the sun setting that you saw.

the pictures were taken at 3am...

Isn't that interesting, since you posted at 1am, oh, and the last edit was at 2:34am (just had to add this, since I noticed it after the fact).

tadow!

I got a couple of pics from last night's lightning storm, too. Unfortunately, they were a bit overexposed since I was messing with the manual options and was only able to get a shot of a proper bolt when I hadn't adjusted the settings properly yet, and then while I was adjusting the brightness of the second picture in photoshop, I accidentally saved when I shouldn't have, so there's some wackass greyness in there (and yes, the giant fat white beam was there as a result of overexposure). I did some damage control and the second pic is about 95% restored to what it looked like originally. Still looks pretty cool, though.

No wonder Stojakapimp went to Hawaii this week. I have a feeling he is behind all the bad weather as of late.

Awesome pics!!
I tried to take some pics, but I got very unlucky and the lightning kept striking in between the shots where my camera was saving the pics! :(
