holy crap! No electricity

So I moved into a house near Rice for the summer, and our new electricity service gets connected on Thursday (if it's even a day late, I swear heads will roll), but the existing service was disconnected today (even though it should theoretically run until the 31st).

So - no airconditioning in houston, and all the windows are painted shut = 100+ temps inside the house during the day. This is terrible.

The solution - for the next 5 days I will go to the house around 11-12, sleep until 7 or so (tuesday and wednesday, until 4:30 or so for work), get up and shower, then go either to work, or to campus where they have a 24/7 computer lab. Thank god for that, and for friends that'll let us put perishables in their refriderators for a few days.

(old service = reliant, new service = direct energy. Chose new service because they didn't require a deposit to start service).

I'm going to lose my own weight in sweat in the next few days. Houston is unlivable without A/C. Well, fans and open windows would be wonderful, too, but we have neither.

Your friend must be pretty old because as long as I can remember Houston has been the air conditioning capital of the world.
