Well, I experienced a first tonight while driving home...the lights were completely OUT for a good section of a major street which leads up to my house, and I mean that literally. NO store was open, except for just ONE which probably had emergency power. And there's a few shopping centers down there too, so we're talking about dozens of store with no lights at all.

Add to that..NONE of the street lights were on, and even the traffic lights were completely out. They weren't even blinking red so you couldn't even tell where the intersections were. Only a select few at a few major intersections were actually working. I saw an accident on a freeway exit which looked pretty bad.

It was really creepy..almost like something out of a scary movie or a bad dream to see a relatively major city be completely dark like that..It actually took me a while to notice it because of the lights the cars produce, but then I started realizing people were going really slow and stopping for no reason. I was really relieved to find out that the lights were actually on starting at about two minutes away from home..

That's it? This past winter my entire city blacked out... infact, almost 3 major cities near here was completely blacked (and many more were affected, but only a few were COMPLETELY blacked out) out for up to 80 miles away. It was only for 4 hours, but in the dead of winter and in the middle of the night, it got kind of cold.

No actually :) Usually it's just my house or something, but I've never seen the street lights go out, or drive through a neighborhood in total darkness..

You must live in a nice place to have no power outages. I have been without power on and off for about 2 months and no water for over a week, that was no fun at all.

You live in the middle of manhattan or something? That's the only kinda place I can see never having a power outage.

lol, you should have been here in cali, bay area to be specific during the summer. they have alternating blackout days for different power blocks. it was terrible, lol. expecting rotating blackouts. *sigh* california and her many problems.

had to buy plenty of expensive power from neighboring Nevada. lol.

LOL! We had a big storm back in 87 and had no electricity for almost 3 weeks!...the whole village was cut off....you used to be heading home from the town and you would leave the light and enter the darkness....

Haha. The last Ice Storm two weeks ago I was out of power for 4 days. The one in 91 I was out for 7 days. Seeing it is one thing, experiencing it is another.
