yea exactly.

one of the reasons i dont like olpmpic archery. they have so much crap on their bows and relase devices that i dont even call it archery anymore. same with shooting. have you seen all the gizmos that competive and olympic shooters use? give archers a long bow and thats it, and ban all devices from shooting and only allow iron/open sights.

The only gizmos that shooters really have is a scope and at that point they usually have separate any sight and iron sight matches.

The guy on mythbusters had no problem hitting the arrow he meant to split.

The arrow would just follow the grain in the wood that's why it wouldn't split completely.

Did you even see the episode?

Um, the people in the video were shooting olympic recurves. You cannot use triggers or releases of any sort in the olympics. All that is allowed is a sight (basically a reticle and pin) and stabilizers. Thay also shoot out to 90 yards with those things.

What you're thinking of are compound bows, which are allowed in other archery tournaments, in a category of their own.

If he's that good with an arrow, I can only imagine how much better he might be with a gun.

With all the different camera angles, we can't tell if he really shot the arrow that split the arrow or not.

All they showed was a clip of him releasing the arrow and then another clip of the arrow entering the other arrow. For all we know, that could have been shot from 3 feet away by a machine in order to put together an interesting show.
