Electricity is about $40 in the winter, $75 in the summer. Gas: peak was $160 for the past month.
650 sq ft apartment, but about 140 square feet of that in a room that lacks heat vents.

Old building; most of the windows are single-pane, and the insulation is really lacking.
Erie, PA. Cold and windy.

thread is worthless without knowing the outside temps and what one keeps it at inside.

A/C efficiency makes a HUGE difference...I went from a 500 sq ft apartment with a wall a/c putting my bill at around 150-175 per month...we kept it as cold as it would go and during the 90+ degree summers it was still hot except in the room it was in.

I now have a 1800sq ft under air home, keep it at 78 when we are home and 82 when we are working/sleeping...temps are in the 80-90 range. We do a couple loads of wash a week. Bill is around $200. I could shave about $40 off of it by turning off my ceiling fans during the day.
