Holy crap, janitors get paid very well

no, you'd have people with 4 year degrees mopping floors for 30k a year.

Not really, you need jobs for all those majors that didn't actually learn anything useful in school

Okay so imagine if we were a country where 99% were engineers, doctors, and dentists.

$15-$16 plus benefits, equates to around 31k per year. Which is not very much in the overall scheme of things, but compare that to a teacher who earns 41k.

To be honest, they deserve it OulOat. Besides the "crap" they have to deal w/ , no pun intended, how many janitors are treated like with respect? That is quite 🙁 I must say.

thats a disgusting amount of money for a janitor. With that many appilcants you could get a good one and pay em only 8 bucks an hour

Then the country would collapse in on itself inside a week.

Try paying $8 an hour and see what kind of people you get. Just because you look down on the job doesn't mean a good hard worker isn't worthwhile. A good janitor can get more done in a day than 2 or 3 lousy ones.

I'm not saying they don't, the market pays what the market can bear. However, it does look like an obscene amount compared to people who actually teaches our future.

I'm happy to work in a low-risk security job for $10.25 while I'm in college. I'm very thankful for my job. Those janitors have to put up with a lot of shit though. If they get paid that much, good for them.

Have you ever mopped, strip waxed and machine buffed a department store floor? They keep the tiles looking like mirrored glass and earn their money.

You call $15-$16 per hour getting paid well?
Go work as a janitor for a few months and tell me how great the money is.

that's because the folks who teach our future are severely underpaid IMO. but the system itself is broken, too. that doesn't help the situation much.

Right, because those are the only fields useful in our society...

I guarantee you could find thousands of people willing to do your job for $8/hour.
