Holy crap I'm getting fat

this is my problem too. even healthy food can make you gain weight if you eat too much at a sitting.

It takes a minimum of 15 minutes for your stomach to tell your brain your full, and you can eat a lot in 15 minutes. Try to keep this in mind and eat slow. I usually multi-task, ya know, post on these forums while eating. It makes a bit difference.

Yet if I stub my toes my brain finds out in less than a second. Go figure.

if there is ever any question of your fatness take a picture of your self from the front, side and back with your shirt off. cameras don't lie.

I went from 196 to 173 at boot camp, just finished a couple weeks ago. I'm 6'2. If you work hard enough at it a major weight loss is not out of reach.

Mine is "holy crap I'm getting thin!". I just bought some new size 36's and they're already starting to get loose. my old 40's fall right off, belts barely help.

I went from a 64" waist to 30" 😱

but now I'm back up to a 33-34" (depending on the brand, style, and fit)... it's annoying. everyone tells me I look better know that I've gained a little weight, but I really don't want to have to buy new clothes again.

This is true. When I started putting on weight, I went into denial. I just couldn't perceive myself as fat, even when looking at myself in the mirror.
However when I took a couple of pictures in order to compare later as I started working on my bad habits, I could see it right away. It was especially noticeable under the chin and around the lower belly.

I got ya beat on that, 5' 9" and 235, yet no one believes I am over 200, I even won a few drunken bets because of it. Oh, and i go to the gym 5 times a week.

I'm sort of the opposite, I always think I look overweight, even when I am very skinny.

Fatty! Go workout :awe:

fuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

it's funny, i was at the park after picking up my kids from summer camp and one of the dads and I struck up a conversation. at the end of the conversation he told me that he and a buddy workout at my daughter's school once a week, run laps, wind sprints (which i enjoy) and pull-ups/push-ups. i think i may take him up on that offer just to get my ass in gear.

Goona take more than 1 day a week!

I'm 6'3, 184 lbs right now. Beginning of May I was 205. I had ankle surgery last fall and just sat around all winter. In less than a month I dropped over 20 pounds to get back where I wanted. I ran 6 days a week + push ups + sit ups + pull ups. Just work hard and you can get there.

That's where I'm at. I topped out at 220 a couple years ago. I weighed myself about a year ago, and I was 205. I noticed my clothes were getting bigger, and I weighed myself about a month ago, and I was 185. The problem is I think I lost a not insignificant amount of muscle. I'm not as active as I used to be due largely to back issues. I can't do the fun stuff to keep in shape anymore, and work for it's own sake is boring as shit. I'm thinking about using my reel mower again instead of the riding mower, but I hate pushing that around in the heat :^/

BMI is 19.
A part of your body size and shape is genetics, some things you can't do much about at a normal lifestyle unless you go extremes, dedicate yourself or chemical assistance.

As a boy, I used to see a 300+ pound woman walk around my block back in the day. Right after work hours, around 6pm. Just with a walkman (90's), normal pace, your everyday lady. Fast forward this for some years, one day I came home from college and I saw she looked like she was in her 160's.Persistence is the key to everything.

Don't be a fat bastard!

Seriously, you can do it, cut down on the intake. I didnt cut out the refined shit. I switched from soda to diet in the evenings, drink water the rest of the time. I just cut out a lot of the bullshit. Baked lays instead of regular, eat smaller portions, etc.
Eat less bullshit, excercise and you'll be good to go.

I lost 85 lbs in 10 months roughly and have kept it off for 2 years now. My weight fluctuates between 170 and 175 (i eat like shit on weekends) and i'm 5'11.

You can do it, dont whine about being fat, don't try your best, or talk about making a change, just do it.

Like sean connery said: "Losers whine about their best. Winners fuck the prom queen."

Be a winner, lose the weight, and go fuck the prom queen.

Now. Do it.

You sound so obnoxious. Please STFU. Just because you're thin you're not a "winner", nor does it mean you'll automatically get to fuck someone. I'm pretty sure only douchebags will want to with your attitude.

And just because you'll probably try to play the "fatty" card, I weigh 140.

OP, just try to lose 15-20 pounds if you're not comfortable with your current weight. 185-190 should be fine.

I haven't really been shedding any muscle weight, as I'm genetically disposed to have a larger musculature than most. I can put on muscle weight quickly and generally keep it longer. Fat can come and go really quickly, although I'm surprised at how quickly I've lost weight by modifying my carb intake and not really working out a whole lot. All of my shirts still fit similar around the arms, shoulders and chest, but significantly more loose in the torso.

I was 250 Jan 1st, I'm probably 210 or 212 right now. I want to get to 200lbs, but as I can already start to see my ribs I'm not sure if that's the best idea. I should probably just try to tone it up some, but being a stoner makes it quite hard to get motivated to do some intense work outs 🙂

Meh, my BMI is really bad if you loot at it, but I'm not fat, it's more muscle than anything. I'm 19st and 6ft 5

is this urban legend still going around?

There is actually a bit of a lag, but it's not quite 15 minutes.

As for BMI, it's good for what it's generally purported to be--a "quick and dirty" measure of obesity in the average adult. It obviously doesn't apply to professional athletes or those who weight lift frequently, but the average adult is neither a professional athlete nor a frequent weight lifter.

I think someone else mentioned it, but with weight loss/physical fitness, consistency is really the most important factor. Just choose some level of activity you can see yourself realistically completing (and hopefully enjoying) 3-5 times per week, give it a go, stick with it, and adjust accordingly as you progress. It can be a pain in the ass a lot of the time, but ultimately it's going to work and will probably be worth it.

My stomach disagrees.

Well my brother is 6'5", he's about 190 I believe and he's pretty thin. If you have 80 lbs on him, you're fat. There's no way you can hide 80 lbs that easily. How about you post a picture to prove otherwise? But if you're going to claim you're 270lbs and not fat, I definitely have to see a picture to believe it.

Because this is what someone who is 6'5" and 280lbs looks like who isn't "fat" and I highly doubt you look anything like that.
