Try to find some crown molding the matches the china hutch and put it on the kitchen cabinets. It will make a world of difference.

Shadowknight, does the rig in your sig have no memory???
... That's a bizarre question to ask in a thread about a house a guy bought. For the record, as and SPCR hard core silencer, I only list the quiet components I've used to build my system. I could list my memory, monitor, soundcard, speakers, iPod, printer, after market mouse feet, mouse pad, and the fact that my motherboard uses passive cooling. Other than the last bit, about the passive MB cooling, I'm not interested in listing anything else than my quiet components.

You didn't spend a dime yet!

True, but there will be a lot less $$$ for toys every month. 🙁
Wait until you file taxes next year! I recommend putting THAT money into A: Unsecured debt or B:Capital improvements on the property

Thanks man!

I really like the open feel of the living room. The paint is not too bad so I'm keeping it for a while.
The backyard needs work but the shed is going to be a great workshop. A tiny bit of insulation and a small window AC unit should do it.

yeah but by the time he actually spends that $350K, his house will be worth like $2 million dollars from 30 years of appreciation. real estate FTW!

congrats, you made a good choice and it looks nice from the pics. i bet your mortgage ends up being less than the rent I pay on my sh!tty apartment in CA, so breath easy on the payments and be thankful you're happy in the place you live.

I dont mean nothing by this, but when interest rates go up I wonder if the value could go back to $123k. Two bedrooms? 200k?

The rates are going up that is a fact. The appreciation already started to somewhat flatten out but I don't think it will drop.
The appreciation have been wild here the last few years but even if it drops to 8%/yr I should be good to go. Believe me I was worried about that before I decided to get a place.
Renting the same size house would be just $100 - $200 cheaper/month than what I will be paying now so it just feels dumb to waste it on rent.

I love the half-walls in the little playpen area, gives the kids some privacy but lets mom and dad peek over now and then.

Congrats man, so now you got a home in America! 🙂 Heh, I think I am going to do the same in 6 months if everything goes ok. Renting sucks. I much rather pay less money for a home outside the city around Washington D.C. than rent and pay $2000/mo for a place that I won't have any equity of.

So what do you do there? Work at UVA?
