Holy Crap Frank Sinatra is awesome

Today I took some time to sample music and ended up listening to Sinatra for a while. I always knew of him but never really just listened before... It has a calming quality that assures a positive outlook as opposed to what I'm used to (Calming but fucks you up)

Yeah, he is. I have a collection on my computer, converted to FLAC from CD. "Fly me to the moon", "the best is yet to come", and "New york, new york" are my favorites.

He had a powerfully rich voice.

I never got the big deal about Frank, I'll listen to a few of his songs. I always end up listening to Tony Bennett though. Tony is the shit. Frank was gangster though lol.

<3 Sinatra, but Sammy Davis Jr is the better singer by far, just technically. He's really amazing.

The first thing that went through my head when I saw the thread title is, "I've never seen this thread on Anandtech before!" It's so rare that there's an original topic (and this probably isn't perfectly original, I just haven't seen it come up here before. 🙂)

I tried to get into it but I find him too bland. I'm more of a Temptations man myself.

That's what I thought about him at first too, too bland, but today I just listened to him in the BG and a half hour later I was like "holy crap, this is awesome"

It's like you just catapulted past me, a married man who's boring and goes to bed at 9:30, and became a boring 60 year old. Thank you. Now I feel alive and vital.

Sinatra was god. Just starting to appreciate him recently. OK, for many years now. If you only listen to him occasionally, the charm never fades.

I heard someone once suggest that about half the baby boomers were conceived with Sinatra music playing in the background.

Maybe a little bit of an over estimation, but I am sure a lot of our parents or grandparents were getting busy to his music.

Heh-heh...Last night was "Frank Sinatra" night on Turner Classic Movies...We watched a couple of them.

He had a very nice voice, smooth and mellow. We're also big Bing Crosby fans in this house...
(I met him and his family a few times when I was a kid. My mom had been their babysitter when she was young, and from time to time, when they were in Spokane, we'd get invited to the house for dinner, bbq, whatever. It was pretty cool.)
