Yeah, that could've done some damage.

On a related note: I wonder if that cameraman will be standing near the runway anytime soon...

Oh man, I would of been sick after that. That was one lucky pilot. I wonder if he attempted it again.

what happened?

Plane attempts a dangerous landing in a unbelievable crosswind that has the aircraft yawed 90 degrees off the runway. Aircraft is nearly uncontrolable as pilot aborts landing at the last second. Wings are flapping like a bird in the wind. Assume most passengers are puking their guts out. (I would be)

It's not much different than landing in Charlotte. Everytime I've flown in there it was an E ticket ride.

there's a vid somewhere of a 747 doing that in China, but it's apparently pretty comon over there, cause the way the airport is and the the buildings surrounding it make for a tight approach pattern. I'll see if i have the video and i'll post it.

Yeah...there was a thread some months back about that and a website with all kinds of them. Some of the best video clips were of some airport in the Carribbean, I think, where the planes come in right over the beach.

I don't know about Airbus but I know the Boeing 727 was limited to a 25 knot crosswind. That plane wieghs about the same as the 727 and it getting tossed around. I am sure they went over the reccomended limit for the Airbus. Stupid pilots like that give the airlines a bad reputation.

Blame the control tower for giving them permission to land.

That was the best save I have ever seen. I bet he took his time before coming around for another attempt at landing there.

They apparently don't have good wind shear detection at that airport
